While most sports have striking jerseys or classic logos to build an identity, that’s not the case in NASCAR. Beyond the driver him or herself, there’s one major source of differentiating between competitors on the track: the car’s paint scheme.
On Wednesday, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Axalta revealed their red, orange and yellow look for the next season.
“I love it,” Earnhardt said. “I got a little involved in this one, so it’s definitely something that I connect to. It was pretty challenging because the paint is a product and the paint scheme is a reference to the product itself so we had to have something that was bright and exciting.”

Beyond looking sharp, there’s a reason for the inclusion of each color. “I love the color combination of red, orange and yellow,” he continued. “The yellow is at the bottom to allow us to see how the car is sealing off on the racetrack. My favorite color orange is incorporated into it with the fade. I love the red from the old Budweiser days and it’s kind of a nod to that.”
