Cowboys Release ‘Hard Knocks’ Star Azur Kamara

The Dallas Cowboys have released defensive end/linebacker Azur Kamara, who made a name for himself as one of the players on the bubble of making the team when the Cowboys were featured on this season’s Hard Knocks.

Kamara was easy to root for. He and his family fled to the U.S. from the Ivory Coast and we all got to watch as his family was able to see him play football for the first time.

Kamara played in 10 games this season, mainly contributing on special teams.

DallasCowboys.com’s Nick Eatman reports that the team hopes to sign Kamara to their practice squad. Of course, they may not get the chance to do depending on if Kamara clears waivers. There is speculation that the New York Giants are interested in adding Kamara to their team.

Wide receiver Osirus Mitchell was released from the practice squad in the second move the Cowboys made. The cuts made space for safety Donovan Wilson who has been on injured reserve since November 24 with a shoulder injury. Wilson will be eligible to return for the Cowboys game against the Washington Football Team on Sunday.

The Cowboys had a great beginning to their season. A rough patch in November saw the Cowboys go 1-3, but the Cowboys look like they’re hitting their stride again – and at the right time. They’ve won each of their last three games against the New Orleans Saints, Washington Football Team and Giants. They currently sit at 10-4 which is good for first in the NFC East.

The Cowboys’ last three games include The Washington Football Team, Arizona Cardinals and the Philadelphia Eagles.
