Conor McGregor States His Terms To Fight Floyd Mayweather

Conor McGregor seems prepared to fight nearly anyone and in any format, whether it’s a UFC match or a boxing match.

Conor McGregor States His Terms To Fight Floyd Mayweather

The new lightweight champion, who knocked out Eddie Alvarez in the second round at UFC 205 at Madison Square Garden this Saturday, had a special message for Floyd Mayweather on Tuesday night while taking the stage at 1 Oak in New York.

It all began after Mayweather erupted when hearing comparisons to McGregor while he was also in New York, and this led the Irishman to respond.

Earlier this year, Mayweather admitted to starting a rumor that he was going to fight the UFC champion and McGregor said he will gladly accept– under a few financial stipulations.

“He wants it under boxing rules. He wants a boxing match. He doesn’t want a fight,” McGregor shouted to the crowd. “Tell Floyd and Showtime, I’m coming. Tell him to go to them Showtime offices. I want $100 million cash to fight you under boxing rules cause he’s afraid of a real fight.”

McGregor’s determination for this fight is impressive, especially given that he has no professional boxing experience. Mayweather, 39, recently retired with a perfect 49-0 record.

The 28-year-old Irishman is willing to meet Mayweather on his turf because he knows the boxer will never consider fighting him under mixed martial arts rules.

“Floyd’s not ready for this. Much respect to Floyd, he’s a solid businessman. What he has been able to do, he’s a (expletive) animal at what he’s been able to do but as far as real fighting, as far as true, pure unarmed combat — Floyd don’t want none of this,” McGregor said.

“He does not want none of this.”

Rumors about this much-anticipated fight have continued to circulate for nearly all of 2016, although McGregor’s recent title win seems to have bolstered his confidence even further to fight Mayweather.

Nevertheless, there may still be a long time left until this exciting matchup actually occurs. McGregor, for his part, is taking a break after a very busy year that saw him fight four times. He will soon enjoy the birth of his first child in early 2017.
