Colin Kaepernick A Hot Commodity Among Teams Looking For QB

The Cleveland Browns, Denver Broncos and New York Jets are among the teams interested in San Francisco 49ers’ quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

Multiple Teams Interested In Kaepernick

Kaepernick was benched on November 2 in favor of Blaine Gabbert after going 2-6 through San Francisco’s first 8 games.  He led the 49ers to Super Bowl XLVII after terrorizing defenses with his elite athleticism, most famously in their 45-31 victory over Green Bay in the divisional round in 2013, when he set a QB rushing record with 181 yards on the ground.

Denver now has a gaping hole at quarterback following their Super Bowl victory.  Not only did Peyton Manning retire, but his heir apparent, Brock Osweiler, who went 5-2 as a starter in relief of Manning, left to sign a four-year $72 million deal with the Houston Texans.

The Jets have their own quarterback dilemma with Ryan Fitzpatrick testing the free agent waters and currently has a asking price that New York doesn’t want to match.  Gang Green also lost Pro-Bowl running back Chris Ivory to Jacksonville this offseason, and will look to upgrade their offense to take pressure off receivers Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker.

Cleveland provides another interesting potential landing spot.  Cleveland has struggled mightily this last season going 3-13 and finally cut ties with Johnny Manziel.  The Browns have lost numerous starters this free agency period including Alex Mack, Travis Benjamin and Tashaun Gipson.  Multiple sources have told ESPN that Kaepernick, 28, wants to play for new Browns’ coach Hue Jackson, who wanted to draft the quarterback out of Nevada in 2011.

The sixth year pro still provides a legitimate threat with his athleticism and arm strength, but will need time to develop his progressions and pocket presence if his career revival is to last much longer.
