Chiefs Vs. Patriots Game Preview: Time, Channel & Odds

With the Patriots versus Chiefs Sunday night matchup being moved to Monday night after Pats quarterback Cam Newton tested positive for COVID-19, the betting landscape has shifted drastically over the weekend. With Brian Hoyer or Jared Stidham under center for the Patriots, you probably won’t get good odds on the Chiefs straight up to win, but here are a few prop bets that can add a little more intrigue to your viewing experience.

Rex Burkhead (+1000) As First Touchdown Scorer

The Chiefs are going to win this game. New England didn’t have the talent to hang with the Chiefs before Newton fell out with COVID, and now it is probably no contest. But hear me out. If the Pats get the ball first they are going to try to use ball control and a power run game to keep Patrick Mahomes off the field, and I could see them marching down the field on the first drive and getting an early score. Rex Burkhead had an amazing week three against the Raiders, scoring three touchdowns, and he may have established himself as the Pats goal-line back. I don’t think the Pats will hang on to that lead and will probably get blown out, but +1000 feels like a bit much.

First half money line Draw (+1100)

This boils down to the same argument that I used for Burkhead. The Pats will rely on their run game and secondary to keep Mahomes and his offensive firepower limited, and you won’t get any good odds for any prop bets favoring the Chiefs. I could see an ugly half where the Pats go up 14 nothing with ten minutes left in the second then Mahomes scores two quick ones to tie it up and puts the Pats on their heels going into halftime. I feel like this is a good bet if you believe n the Chiefs but think they are slow starters, which they are because they know that they can come back from any deficit with Mahomes.

As usual, ay advice that you take from me is your own decision, and neither I nor uSports take any responsibility for the money that you lose.
