The Kansas City Chiefs will be missing Pro Bowl pass rusher Justin Houston at least through training camp, after the team announced Tuesday morning that he underwent surgery to repair his ACL just last month.
Houston, 27, missed five games due to a knee injury last season. According to Ian Rapoport, Houston didn’t actually tear his ACL: rather, his knee simply wasn’t working “properly” after the aforementioned injury. Rapoport also stated that his recovery time could last anywhere from 6 to 12 months.
The four-time Pro Bowler and outside linebacker has recorded a total of 50 sacks over the past four seasons, earning First-Team All-Pro honors in 2014.
Since being drafted in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the Chiefs, Houston has had 264 tackles, three interceptions, eight forced fumbles, and four fumble recoveries.
