Celtics Convert JD Davison To Standard Contract Ahead of Playoffs

The Boston Celtics are converting JD Davison’s two-way to a standard two-year contract. The team had a vacant roster spot, so no additional move is needed.

The Celtics selected Davison in the second round of the 2022 NBA Draft. Over three seasons on two-way contracts, he’s played in 35 games, averaging 1.7 points in 5.2 minutes with the main roster.

In the G League, Davison has put up strong numbers – 20.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 8.0 assists over 133 games with the Maine Celtics. He earned NBAGL MVP honors this year after putting up 25.6 points per game.

Now on a standard contract, Davison is eligible for the playoffs.

Davison was set to enter restricted free agency this offseason before this move.

With the deadline for two-way signings having passed in March, the Celtics are unable to fill Davison’s vacated slot. Drew Peterson and Miles Norris, who are under contract through 2025-26, occupy the team’s remaining two-way contracts.
