BYU continued its upward trajectory by finishing the 2025 season with a 12–2 record. Coming off an 11–2 campaign in 2024, the Cougars entered 2025 projected to compete for a major bowl appearance or College Football Playoff berth after retaining a productive roster built around a physical style of play. BYU defeated Utah for the third consecutive time in the “Holy War” with a narrow 24–21 victory in Provo, while other notable wins came against Arizona, TCU and Iowa State.

The Cougars made their first appearance in the Big 12 Championship Game but lost to Texas Tech 34–7. Their season ended on a positive note with a 25–21 victory over Georgia Tech in the Pop-Tarts Bowl.

Despite a successful season, BYU struggled against Texas Tech, losing both matchups by a combined score of 63–14. The Red Raiders held the Cougars to just 63 rushing yards and 137 passing yards in the Big 12 Championship Game. BYU entered the conference championship ranked No. 11 by the College Football Playoff committee, putting the Cougars in position to contend for a spot in the 12-team field. However, the loss damaged their playoff résumé, while analysts also pointed to a lack of high-profile non-conference wins as a factor working against them. The committee ultimately left BYU outside the College Football Playoff.

Head coach Kalani Sitake promoted Kelly Poppinga to defensive coordinator after Jay Hill accepted the same position at Michigan. Poppinga previously served as BYU’s special teams coordinator and defensive ends coach and spent six seasons on Bronco Mendenhall’s staff at Virginia. Under Poppinga’s guidance, linebacker Chris Peace led all ACC linebackers with 7.5 sacks during his senior season in 2018. With Poppinga on the defensive staff last season, BYU ranked sixth nationally in red-zone defense (70.4%) and red-zone touchdown defense (40.7%), seventh in interceptions (17) and 10th in defensive touchdowns (three).

Sione Po’uha was promoted to associate head coach, while Justin Ena transitioned from linebackers coach to special teams coordinator. Demario Warren was hired as defensive passing game coordinator and safeties coach after helping Boise State rank 15th nationally in pass defense last season, allowing just 175.6 passing yards per game.

Two BYU players were selected in the 2026 NFL Draft after none were taken the previous year. Linebacker Jack Kelly was selected by the New York Giants in the sixth round, providing additional depth to their linebacker corps. Kelly ended his BYU tenure with 10 sacks, two forced fumbles and 55 total tackles. The Cleveland Browns selected tight end Carsen Ryan in the seventh round, adding a versatile option who can contribute as both a receiver and blocker. Ryan recorded career highs with 45 receptions and 620 receiving yards while adding three touchdowns in 2025. Wide receiver Chase Roberts signed with the Las Vegas Raiders as an undrafted free agent after totaling 170 receptions, 2,586 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns during his four-year tenure at BYU.

Quarterback Bear Bachmeier threw for 3,033 yards, 15 touchdowns and seven interceptions while completing 64.9% of his passes. He also rushed for 527 yards and 11 touchdowns. The signal-caller was named the 2025 Big 12 Offensive Freshman of the Year before earning MVP honors in the Pop-Tarts Bowl, where he threw for 325 yards, one touchdown and one interception. LJ Martin spearheaded BYU’s rushing attack with 1,305 yards and 12 touchdowns, earning Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year and First-Team All-Big 12 honors. Parker Kingston led the receiving corps with 928 yards and five touchdowns. Cornerback Evan Johnson anchored the secondary with five interceptions and seven pass deflections, while safety Faletau Satuala led the defense with 84 total tackles.

247Sports ranked BYU’s 2026 transfer class 39th nationally after the Cougars signed three four-star and six three-star prospects. Former California linebacker Cade Uluave is expected to anchor BYU’s linebacker corps, helping fill the void left by the NFL-bound Kelly. Uluave finished his three-year tenure at Cal with six sacks, 235 total tackles and three interceptions. The former Golden Bear was also named to the Butkus and Lombardi Award watchlists for the 2026 season.

Transfers Roger Saleapaga II and Walker Lyons could provide Bachmeier with two additional targets in the passing game while adding depth to the receiving corps. Their versatility could allow offensive coordinator Aaron Roderick to rotate between personnel packages and create favorable matchups in key situations. Lyons averaged 11.1 yards per reception last season, recording 20 catches for 223 yards. Former Washington offensive lineman Paki Finau provides the Cougars with a high-upside interior option who is expected to compete for a starting role.

BYU’s 2026 schedule appears relatively manageable, with ESPN’s Football Power Index ranking the slate 55th nationally in strength of schedule. Notre Dame and Utah headline the schedule, while the Cougars will avoid notable Big 12 opponents such as Texas Tech and Houston. Notre Dame will visit Provo in mid-October, potentially setting up a matchup between two top-15 teams looking to strengthen their College Football Playoff résumés. The Fighting Irish are 7–2 all-time against the Cougars, but a victory would give BYU the type of high-profile non-conference win its résumé lacked last season.

BYU’s visit to Salt Lake City could provide another difficult test, as the Cougars will face a Utah team projected to be among the Big 12’s best in the hostile environment at Rice-Eccles Stadium. The Cougars will also be looking for their fourth consecutive victory in the “Holy War” after defeating the Utes 24–21 last season.

Sitake’s team enters 2026 expecting to compete for a Big 12 title and a College Football Playoff berth. Optimism is high with Bachmeier coming off a promising freshman season, while Poppinga is expected to retain many of the defensive concepts used under Hill last season. BYU also returns several starters from its 12-win team, providing continuity on both sides of the ball.

Questions remain in the receiving corps because of significant turnover and uncertainty surrounding the unit’s new contributors. Jojo Phillips has dealt with injuries and inconsistent play, catching just 24 passes over two seasons, while Oregon transfer Kyler Kasper recorded only six receptions for 77 yards over four seasons. Despite the uncertainty at receiver, BYU’s standard preseason win total is set at 8.5, suggesting expectations for some regression following last season’s 12-win campaign. ESPN’s Football Power Index also gives the Cougars a 16.5% chance to win the Big 12 in 2026.

Stan Kroenke is buying the Los Angeles Angels after agreeing to a $4 billion deal with Arte Moreno, the previous owner.

Kroenke’s company, Kroenke Sports & Entertainment, will take control of the team, along with its Los Angeles connection of owning the NFL’s Los Angeles Rams.

Kroenke owns a team in every major American sport. He also owns the Colorado Avalanche in the NHL and the Denver Nuggets in the NBA, along with his Los Angeles teams. He also owns Arsenal F.C. of the Premier League and their women’s affiliation, Arsenal W. F. C.

This deal is still set to close once MLB approves it.

The Angels were valued at $4 billion and would break the MLB record for the highest sale when approved. The previous record came earlier this year when the Padres were bought for $3.9 billion.

This comes at a rough time for the Angels, as they have missed the playoffs for 11 consecutive seasons, the longest streak in MLB.

Kroenke believes in the historic franchise, which is in a large market but gets overshadowed by its city counterpart, the Los Angeles Dodgers, who have won the World Series in each of the last 2 years and have the largest payroll in the league.

This ends Moreno’s over-20-year run as the first Latino owner in MLB. Moreno bought the team at one of its highest values, coming off its most recent World Series title. His claim to fame has been the Angels superstars that have come through in Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani, but no success came in their time, and that left many fans displeased.

The change of ownership brings a new sense of hope for Angels fans. Kroenke has seen plenty of recent success, with Arsenal’s Premier League title last season and recent championships by the Rams, Avalanche, and Nuggets in the last decade.

After a memorable 2024 campaign that resulted in an appearance in the National Championship Game, Notre Dame entered 2025 with lofty expectations to contend for a national title. The Fighting Irish were ranked inside the preseason top 10 and opened the season against two top-25 opponents in Miami and Texas A&M. After losing both games by a combined four points, Notre Dame fell to 0–2 and dropped to No. 24 in the polls.

The Fighting Irish responded by winning their remaining 10 games to finish 10–2 and reenter the College Football Playoff conversation. A dominant running game and the emergence of freshman quarterback CJ Carr fueled the turnaround. Jeremiyah Love finished third in Heisman Trophy voting after rushing for 1,372 yards and 18 touchdowns on 199 carries, while Carr threw for 2,741 yards, 24 touchdowns and six interceptions while completing 66.6% of his passes.

The College Football Playoff committee ultimately left Notre Dame outside the field, ranking Miami and Alabama ahead of the Fighting Irish in its final rankings. Miami’s head-to-head victory over Notre Dame and Alabama’s stronger strength of schedule worked against the Fighting Irish, despite the Crimson Tide’s lopsided loss in the SEC Championship Game. Notre Dame subsequently declined its bowl invitations, ending the 2025 season abruptly.

Former Illinois defensive coordinator Aaron Henry joined Marcus Freeman’s staff as co-defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach. Henry was hired to replace Mike Mickens after Mickens accepted a position with the Baltimore Ravens. In 2022, Illinois allowed just 5.6 yards per passing attempt, recorded a nation-leading 24 interceptions and surrendered only 12.8 points per game, the lowest mark in college football that season. Super Bowl LX champion Devon Witherspoon developed under Henry, earning Big Ten Defensive Back of the Year honors and becoming a Thorpe Award finalist in 2022. 

Charlie Partridge was hired as defensive line coach, while Brian Jean-Marie was named linebackers coach. Partridge is widely regarded as one of college football’s top defensive line developers, notably helping develop J.J. Watt during his time on Wisconsin’s coaching staff. His experience could help Notre Dame maximize its defensive front talent in 2026. 

Notre Dame had six players selected in the 2026 NFL Draft, headlined by the Arizona Cardinals’ selection of Love with the third overall pick. Love is expected to play a significant role in Arizona’s offense as a primary option on early downs while creating mismatches in the passing game. His versatility could provide a needed boost to a Cardinals rushing attack that ranked second-to-last in rushing yards in 2025. Running back Jadarian Price was selected 32nd overall by the Seattle Seahawks to help replace Kenneth Walker III’s production. It marked the first time in the modern draft era that two teammates were selected as the first two running backs off the board.

The New York Giants selected Malachi Fields in the third round to add depth at wide receiver after he caught 36 passes for 630 yards and five touchdowns, averaging 17.5 yards per reception. Tight end Eli Raridon was selected by the New England Patriots later in the third round, while offensive lineman Billy Schrauth (Tampa Bay Buccaneers, fifth round) and defensive lineman Gabriel Rubio (Pittsburgh Steelers, sixth round) rounded out Notre Dame’s draft class.

Price complemented Love in the backfield, rushing for 674 yards and 11 touchdowns last season. Jordan Faison led the team with 640 receiving yards, while Will Pauling recorded a team-high six receiving touchdowns. Boubacar Traore and Drayk Bowen anchored the front seven, combining for 10 sacks and 104 tackles. Leonard Moore and Brauntae Johnson spearheaded the secondary, combining for nine interceptions, 10 pass deflections and 79 tackles.

Notre Dame’s 2026 transfer class ranked 11th nationally by 247Sports after the Fighting Irish added seven four-star prospects. Jayden Sanders provides additional depth in the secondary after transferring from Michigan, where he recorded 23 total tackles and one pass breakup last season. DJ McKinney will complement Sanders in a talented secondary, bringing strong coverage ability and a physical style of play. Former Ohio State receivers Quincy Porter and Mylan Graham add athleticism and playmaking ability to a deep receiver room. Graham caught six passes for 93 yards, averaging 15.5 yards per reception in 2025.

ESPN’s Football Power Index ranked Notre Dame’s schedule as the 56th toughest nationally. Miami and BYU highlight the slate, as both carry major implications for Notre Dame’s College Football Playoff hopes. The Fighting Irish will travel to Provo, Utah, to face a physical BYU team that retained major offensive playmakers such as LJ Martin and Parker Kingston in one of college football’s most hostile environments. A win could provide Notre Dame with a marquee top-25 victory if BYU emerges as one of the Big 12’s top teams, while strengthening the Fighting Irish’s chances of hosting a College Football Playoff game in South Bend. Miami will visit South Bend for an early-November matchup that could present one of Notre Dame’s most complete tests of the season.

The Hurricanes possess major offensive firepower led by Darian Mensah, Malachi Toney and Mark Fletcher Jr., while their defense has the personnel to pressure Carr and disrupt Notre Dame’s passing attack. The matchup also gives Notre Dame an opportunity to avenge its 2025 loss to Miami, which ultimately played a major role in the Hurricanes finishing ahead of the Fighting Irish in the final College Football Playoff rankings.

Expectations are high for Notre Dame this season, with the Fighting Irish entering 2026 ranked No. 4 in the preseason AP Top 25 and positioned as a national championship contender. Carr returns for his junior season to lead an offense that features a talented running back room and receiving corps, while the Fighting Irish also return a strong defensive unit. Some uncertainty remains along the offensive line after center Ashton Craig tore his ACL last season, while the starting right guard position remains unsettled. ESPN’s FPI projects Notre Dame to finish with roughly 11 wins, while most analysts list a 12-0 ceiling and a 9-3 floor. The Fighting Irish have the roster to compete for a national championship, but their ability to deliver in marquee matchups could ultimately determine their ceiling.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish 2026-2027 Schedule & Tickets:

After finishing the 2024 season with a 9–4 record, expectations were high for the Crimson Tide entering 2025. Alabama aimed to move past a “transitional period” and return to the College Football Playoff as a legitimate national championship contender.

Despite a shocking season-opening loss to Florida State, Alabama responded by winning eight straight games before losing at home to Oklahoma. The Crimson Tide rebounded to clinch a berth in the SEC Championship Game but fell to Georgia 28–7. Alabama earned the No. 9 seed in the College Football Playoff and defeated Oklahoma 34–24 in Norman during the opening round. The Crimson Tide’s season ended in the Rose Bowl, where Indiana delivered a dominant 38–3 victory.

Alabama ultimately fell short of expectations because of an inconsistent running game and a late-season slump from quarterback Ty Simpson. Simpson played through multiple injuries and struggled with pocket presence, losing five fumbles in 2025.

Adrian Klemm was hired as Alabama’s offensive line coach after Chris Kapilovic was dismissed. Alabama’s offensive line entered the 2025 season as one of the nation’s top units, headlined by Kadyn Proctor, Parker Brailsford and Jaeden Roberts. However, the Crimson Tide averaged just 104.1 rushing yards per game, while the offensive line surrendered 32 sacks over 15 games. Klemm brings 18 years of coaching experience, including NFL stints with the New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers. He also won three Super Bowls as an offensive lineman with the Patriots. Head coach Kalen DeBoer believed Klemm’s experience could help restore the physical identity Alabama has traditionally been known for up front.

After JaMarcus Shephard accepted the head coaching position at Oregon State, Derrick Nix was hired as Alabama’s new wide receivers coach. Nix spent the previous two seasons at Auburn as offensive coordinator and running backs coach. Auburn’s rushing attack ranked in the top half of the SEC in both rushing yards and rushing yards per game last season, while running back Jarquez Hunter earned First-Team All-SEC honors in 2024 after rushing for 1,201 yards. Nix also coached wide receivers at Ole Miss, where three receivers finished among the SEC’s top 12 in receiving yards in 2024. He helped develop Elijah Moore, who earned All-America honors in 2020 under Nix’s guidance. Richard Owens became Alabama’s tight ends coach after Bryan Ellis shifted to quarterbacks coach following Nick Sheridan’s departure for Michigan State.

Ten Crimson Tide players were selected in the 2026 NFL Draft, marking the 15th consecutive year Alabama had at least seven players selected. Proctor headlined the class after being selected 12th overall by the Miami Dolphins. He did not commit a holding penalty during his final 18 starts at Alabama and earned Consensus All-American honors in 2025, along with the Jacobs Blocking Trophy. The Dolphins are expected to play Proctor at left guard, where his power could help create rushing lanes and generate movement at the line of scrimmage.

Simpson was selected 13th overall by the Los Angeles Rams, giving the franchise a potential long-term successor to Matthew Stafford. Simpson threw for 3,567 yards, 28 touchdowns and five interceptions while completing 64.5% of his passes last season.

After trading up with the Indianapolis Colts, the Pittsburgh Steelers selected wide receiver Germie Bernard in the second round, adding another receiving option alongside D.K. Metcalf and Michael Pittman Jr. Bernard caught 64 passes for 826 yards and seven touchdowns in 2025. Edge rusher LT Overton was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the fourth round, followed by Brailsford and linebacker Justin Jefferson in the fifth. The remaining selections were tight end Josh Cuevas (Baltimore Ravens), cornerback Domani Jackson (Green Bay Packers), defensive lineman Tim Keenan III (Los Angeles Rams) and running back Jam Miller (New England Patriots).

Among Alabama’s other key contributors in 2025, Miller led the rushing attack with 504 yards, while Daniel Hill led the team with six rushing touchdowns. Ryan Coleman-Williams paced the receiving corps with 689 yards and four touchdowns, while Isaiah Horton added 511 yards and a team-high eight receiving touchdowns. Horton transferred to Texas A&M during the offseason. Yhonzae Pierre led the pass rush with eight sacks, while Deontae Lawson recorded a team-high 80 tackles. Bray Hubbard anchored the secondary with four interceptions and eight pass deflections.

USC transfer Devan Thompkins joined Alabama to fill a major hole along the defensive line after recording three sacks, one forced fumble and 31 tackles in 2025. Alongside Oregon transfer Terrance Green, Thompkins is expected to play a significant role on a revamped defensive front after Keon Keeley and James Smith entered the transfer portal. Noah Rogers transferred in to complement Coleman-Williams and Lotzeir Brooks in the receiving corps after catching 68 passes for 919 yards and three touchdowns over two seasons at NC State. The Crimson Tide also addressed their offensive line needs by adding Nick Brooks and Ty Haywood through the transfer portal.

ESPN’s Football Power Index ranked Alabama’s 2026 schedule as the 15th-toughest in the country, highlighted by matchups against Georgia, Tennessee, Texas A&M and LSU. The Crimson Tide will face Georgia, Tennessee and Texas A&M in consecutive weeks in mid-October, creating a difficult stretch that could have major implications for their College Football Playoff hopes.

Alabama will host Georgia in the first of those matchups, giving the Crimson Tide an opportunity to solidify themselves as an SEC contender and continue their home success against Kirby Smart. Smart is 0–2 all-time against Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Alabama will then travel to Neyland Stadium for its annual rivalry matchup against Tennessee, giving the Crimson Tide a chance to snap a two-game losing streak in Knoxville. The matchup could be especially challenging because it comes one week after the Georgia game, forcing Alabama to navigate another physical SEC opponent in one of the country’s most hostile environments.

Despite significant roster turnover, Alabama enters the 2026 season ranked No. 11 in the AFCA Coaches Poll. Questions remain about the reworked offensive line and quarterback room. Following Simpson’s departure, Austin Mack and Keelon Russell are competing for the starting job, with DeBoer expected to name a starter before the season opener on Sept. 5. The secondary is viewed as a strength, highlighted by Hubbard and Zabien Brown, while Alabama added significant size along the defensive line after ranking 14th in the SEC in average defensive line weight last season.

Many analysts project Alabama to finish with nine or 10 wins, which could leave the Crimson Tide on the College Football Playoff bubble given the difficulty of their schedule. ESPN’s Football Power Index gives Alabama a 41.3% chance to make the 12-team field in 2026. FanDuel Sportsbook lists Alabama at +340 to win the SEC Championship and +2500 to win the national championship, reflecting both the program’s upside and the uncertainty surrounding its reworked offense.

Alabama Crimson Tide 2026-2027 Schedule & Tickets:

Coming off a disappointing 2–10 campaign in 2024, the Florida State Seminoles entered 2025 expecting a “bounce-back” season that would re-establish them as an ACC contender. Instead, the Seminoles finished 5–7.

Florida State began the season 3–0, with its biggest win coming against then-No. 8 Alabama in the opener. The season quickly unraveled as offensive inconsistencies and poor special teams play emerged, particularly on the road. Quarterback Thomas Castellanos recorded a 197.51 passer rating in wins compared to 125.2 in losses, while his 118.0 passer rating on the road was a legitimate concern compared to his 176.6 rating in home games. Castellanos also averaged 10.8 yards per passing attempt at home compared to 7.3 on the road. As a team, Florida State scored just 93 points on the road compared to 294 points in Tallahassee, highlighting the dramatic decline in offensive production away from home. The Seminoles converted just 12 of 19 field-goal attempts (63.2%) last season, ranking 125th nationally. Missed field goals also proved costly in several games, as two misses derailed Florida State’s momentum against NC State while a missed kick by Jake Weinberg proved costly in a double-overtime loss to Virginia.

Tim Harris Jr. was promoted to offensive coordinator after Gus Malzahn retired in February 2026. Harris previously served as Florida State’s passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach after spending three seasons on UCF’s coaching staff, including time as the program’s offensive coordinator. He helped oversee an offense that led the ACC in total offense, rushing offense, third-down offense and yards per completion. Harris Jr. sees tight ends playing a major role in the offense, with Chase Loftin providing a versatile option who can line up on the perimeter and contribute to the passing game. Austin Tucker was promoted to quarterbacks coach, while Ernie Sims will oversee the linebackers.

Former Florida Atlantic head coach Tom Herman was hired as an assistant to head coach Mike Norvell. Herman will also work closely with defensive coordinator Tony White as an “offensive sounding board for the DC,” helping devise different looks tailored to opposing offensive schemes. Other hires included Kam Martin as the running backs coach, Nick Williams as a pass-rush specialist and Blue Adams as the cornerbacks coach.

One Florida State player was selected in the 2026 NFL Draft, while three others signed as undrafted free agents. Defensive tackle Darrell Jackson Jr. was selected by the New York Jets in the fourth round, where he will join former teammate Azareye’h Thomas. Jackson Jr. totaled 45 tackles and three sacks in his final season with Florida State. Wide receiver Squirrel White signed with the Chicago Bears before stepping away from football 16 days later. Defensive back Jerry Wilson signed with the Los Angeles Chargers, while offensive lineman Jacob Rizy signed with the New England Patriots.

Running back Gavin Sawchuk rushed for 486 yards and eight touchdowns, while Ousmane Kromah added 408 rushing yards. Duce Robinson led the receiving corps with 1,081 receiving yards and six touchdowns, earning first-team All-ACC honors. Micahi Danzy and Lawayne McCoy combined for 967 receiving yards and six touchdowns to complement Robinson in the passing attack. Safety Earl Little Jr. led the defense with four interceptions and 76 tackles before transferring to Ohio State in January 2026. Defensive lineman Mandrell Desir’s 6.5 sacks ranked ninth in the ACC, and he finished second in ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year voting behind California’s Luke Ferrelli. 

Florida State’s 2026 transfer class was ranked 28th nationally and fifth in the ACC by 247Sports. Following Weinberg’s departure to Miami, Oklahoma State transfer Gabe Panikowski is projected to be Florida State’s starting kicker in 2026. Although Panikowski did not appear for Oklahoma State, he was a reliable kicker at Idaho State, converting 15 of 15 field-goal attempts and 44 of 47 extra-point attempts in 2024. Offensive lineman Xavier Chaplin transferred from Auburn to provide the Seminoles with an immediate upgrade on the offensive line. Chaplin surrendered just three sacks last season and was named a third-team All-American in 2023 after allowing only five sacks across 813 snaps. Texas running back Quintrevion Wisner transferred to Florida State to replace some of the production lost from last season’s rushing attack, while Mikai Gbayor will provide depth at linebacker. Florida State also lost key contributors to the transfer portal, including safety Edwin Joseph, linebacker Justin Cryer and tight end Randy Pittman Jr.

The Seminoles’ schedule is the 22nd-toughest nationally, according to ESPN’s Football Power Index. Their slate is highlighted by a marquee road matchup at Alabama, home games against SMU and Clemson, and visits to rivals Miami and Florida. Florida State will face a talented Alabama team featuring Ryan Williams and Yhonzae Pierre in Tuscaloosa as the Crimson Tide look to avenge last year’s loss in Tallahassee. Miami is also a pivotal matchup, as the Seminoles will face an aggressive defensive unit and a Hurricanes squad looking to return to the National Championship. Florida State’s Halloween night matchup against Clemson comes shortly after its game against Miami, creating a demanding stretch against two of the ACC’s top programs. The quick turnaround could test the Seminoles physically, while Florida State has lost nine of its last 10 matchups against Clemson. Florida made significant changes to its program, most notably hiring head coach Jon Sumrall and retaining star running back Jadan Baugh. Florida State is projected to finish as a middle-of-the-pack ACC team based on roster turnover, a tough schedule and recent struggles on the road. The Seminoles’ quarterback room is ranked 12th in the ACC, giving Ashton Daniels an opportunity to lead the offense under Mike Norvell’s system after Castellanos was denied an extra year of eligibility. Despite bringing in reinforcements, Florida State still has question marks along the offensive line and at linebacker because of uncertainty surrounding the units’ returning production and depth. It remains uncertain whether Norvell can help Florida State get over the hump, as the Seminoles must overcome significant questions across the roster while navigating one of the ACC’s more challenging schedules. Some analysts project Florida State to finish with between four and six wins in 2026.

Florida State Seminoles 2026-2027 Schedule & Tickets:

The Ohio State Buckeyes entered the 2025 season as the defending national champions after defeating Notre Dame 34–23 in the previous season’s College Football Playoff National Championship. A repeat appeared well within reach as the Buckeyes completed a perfect 12–0 regular season, highlighted by victories over Texas and Michigan. The win over Michigan snapped Ohio State’s four-game losing streak in “The Game.” However, the Buckeyes’ championship hopes unraveled after a 13–10 loss to Indiana in the Big Ten Championship Game, followed by a defeat to Miami in the Cotton Bowl.

Head coach Ryan Day hired Arthur Smith to oversee the offense after emphasizing his desire to add a veteran play-caller capable of coordinating the unit and managing play-calling in big games. Smith previously served as the Pittsburgh Steelers‘ offensive coordinator, where he helped establish one of the NFL’s most physical rushing attacks. The Steelers ranked 11th in the league with 127.4 rushing yards per game and fourth with 533 rushing attempts. Pittsburgh also scored 42 offensive touchdowns and averaged 23.4 points per game last season, with both figures representing the team’s highest marks since 2020. Smith’s offensive philosophy could place greater physical demands on Ohio State’s offensive line while creating more opportunities for wide receiver Jeremiah Smith to work in space through pre-snap motion and crossing routes.

Cortez Hankton left LSU to become Ohio State’s newest wide receivers coach, while Robby Discher was hired as the special teams coordinator. Defensive coordinator Matt Patricia became the highest-paid coordinator in college football after signing a three-year, $11.45 million contract in February 2026. Patricia’s defense led the nation in scoring defense (9.3 points per game), total defense (219.1 yards per game) and passing defense (129.7 yards per game) last season.

Ohio State had nine players selected in the 2026 NFL Draft. Four players were selected in the first round, all within the first 11 picks. Wide receiver Carnell Tate was selected fourth overall by the Tennessee Titans, giving quarterback Cam Ward an elite playmaker to aid his development. Tate did not drop a pass last season and recorded an 85.7% contested-catch rate. The Houston Texans selected defensive tackle Kayden McDonald early in the second round, while fellow Buckeye Max Klare was selected by the Los Angeles Rams later in the round. Lorenzo Styles Jr., Caden Curry and Ethan Onianwa were selected later in the draft.

Quarterback Julian Sayin finished fourth in Heisman voting last season after throwing for 3,610 yards, 32 touchdowns and eight interceptions while completing 77% of his passes. Running backs Bo Jackson and CJ Donaldson combined for 1,451 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns to lead Ohio State‘s ground game. Smith and Tate powered Ohio State’s receiving corps, combining for 2,118 receiving yards and 21 touchdowns. Smith finished sixth in Heisman voting last season and was named a Consensus All-American, while Tate’s departure leaves Ohio State with significant production to replace at wide receiver. Curry led the pass rush with 11 sacks, while Kenyatta Jackson Jr. added 6.5 sacks. Cornerbacks Davison Igbinosun and Jermaine Matthews Jr. both recorded two interceptions and combined for eight pass deflections.

247Sports ranked Ohio State’s 2026 transfer class seventh in the nation. The Buckeyes added reinforcements to the pass rush after defensive linemen James Smith and Qua Russaw transferred from Alabama. Smith was the top defensive tackle in the transfer portal and totaled 26 tackles and 2.5 sacks last season. He is expected to play either the three-technique or nose tackle this season.

Russaw’s versatility gives defensive coordinator Matt Patricia several options, as he can line up as a defensive end, stand-up pass rusher or outside linebacker. Despite missing the 2025 season with a torn ACL, safety Terry Moore transferred from Duke to provide a boost to the secondary after Downs and Igbinosun departed. Moore earned Second-Team All-ACC honors after recording 71 tackles, four interceptions and a sack in 2024. The former Blue Devil is expected to contribute to the secondary alongside Jaylen McClain and Florida State transfer Earl Little Jr. Wisconsin transfer Christian Alliegro will be tasked with helping replace the production left by Reese and Styles Jr. after recording four sacks and 53 total tackles last season.

Ohio State’s 2026 schedule is ranked eighth in the nation according to ESPN’s College Football Power Index. Notable matchups include a visit to Texas, road games against Iowa and Indiana, a home matchup with Oregon and the annual rivalry game against Michigan. The game at Texas could have College Football Playoff implications for the Buckeyes, as a primetime win in Austin would boost their résumé, while a loss could leave them with little margin for error for the remainder of the season. Playing in front of roughly 100,000 fans, Ohio State will also have an opportunity to impress top high school recruits in one of the sport’s biggest environments.

Ohio State’s visit to Iowa could be a trap game, as Kinnick Stadium is one of the toughest places to play in the country. The stands sit just seven yards from the visiting bench, which could create major communication problems and contribute to false starts. This will mark Ohio State’s first game in Iowa City since 2017, when the Buckeyes lost to an unranked Hawkeyes squad in a shocking 55–24 blowout. The home matchup against Oregon could be another important test for Ohio State’s playoff résumé. The Ducks reached the College Football Playoff in 2025 and will provide the Buckeyes with an opportunity to earn a quality win against a fellow Big Ten contender.

Ohio State has the talent to compete for another national championship, but the margin for error will be smaller than it was in 2025. If Sayin takes another step forward, the transfer additions help fill the holes left by the NFL departures and Patricia’s defense remains elite, the Buckeyes should be among the nation’s top teams once again. The Buckeyes’ preseason over/under win total is set at 9.5, while some analysts project Ohio State to finish with 11 wins. CONMEBOL President Alejandro Domínguez has renewed debate over the future of the FIFA World Cup after proposing that the 2030 tournament expand to 64 teams, a move that would dramatically increase the size of international football’s premier competition just one cycle after FIFA expanded the event from 32 to 48 nations.

The proposal comes as preparations continue for the 2030 World Cup, which is scheduled to be hosted primarily by Spain, Portugal and Morocco, with commemorative opening matches expected to be played in South America. If approved, the expansion would create the largest World Cup in history and significantly alter qualification pathways, tournament scheduling and the overall competitive landscape of international football.

Supporters of the proposal argue that a 64-team tournament would provide greater representation for emerging football nations and continue FIFA’s efforts to globalize the sport. Confederations from Africa, Asia, Oceania and parts of North America could potentially receive additional qualification spots, allowing more countries to experience the World Cup stage and further grow the game in developing football markets.

Critics, however, have questioned whether expanding the tournament so soon after the move to 48 teams would dilute the quality of competition. Opponents argue that increasing the field to 64 nations could create logistical challenges, place additional demands on players and clubs, and reduce the significance of the qualification process that has historically been one of international football’s most competitive stages.

The proposal also raises questions about tournament scheduling. Miami returned to the national spotlight in 2025, finishing 13–3 and earning a College Football Playoff berth. The Miami Hurricanes opened the season 5–0, highlighted by victories over Notre Dame, South Florida and Florida State. Miami’s season-opening win over Notre Dame ultimately proved pivotal to its playoff résumé. With the Hurricanes and Fighting Irish finishing with identical strength-of-schedule metrics, the selection committee favored Miami based on the head-to-head victory.

The Hurricanes opened the College Football Playoff with a 10–3 victory at Texas A&M before knocking off defending national champion Ohio State 24–14 in one of the postseason’s biggest upsets. Miami then defeated Ole Miss 31–27 in the Fiesta Bowl after quarterback Carson Beck scored the go-ahead rushing touchdown with 18 seconds remaining. The Hurricanes’ season ended with a heartbreaking loss to Indiana in the College Football Playoff National Championship.

Head coach Mario Cristobal reshaped his coaching staff following several offseason departures. After Cody Woodiel left for Ole Miss, Mike Viti was hired as Miami’s new tight ends coach. Viti previously served as Army’s fullbacks coach from 2016 to 2021 before coaching the offensive line from 2022 to 2025. In 2024, his offensive line led the nation in total rushing yards and rushing yards per game despite facing the highest percentage of eight-man boxes in the country. Terry Jefferson was promoted to cornerbacks coach after Zac Etheridge accepted a position with the Arizona Cardinals. Will Harris was promoted to secondary coach and defensive pass game coordinator, while Matt Birkett joined the staff as a defensive assistant.

Miami had nine players selected in the 2026 NFL Draft, the program’s highest total since 2007. Offensive tackle Francis Mauigoa headlined the class after being selected 10th overall by the New York Giants. Mauigoa earned First-Team All-ACC honors and won the ACC’s Jacobs Blocking Trophy in 2025. Five picks later, defensive end Rueben Bain Jr. was selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Markel Bell and Jakobe Thomas were selected later in the third round by the Philadelphia Eagles and Minnesota Vikings, respectively. Defensive back Keionte Scott, offensive lineman Anez Cooper and wide receiver CJ Daniels rounded out Miami’s 2026 NFL Draft class.

Mark Fletcher Jr. led Miami’s rushing attack with 1,192 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2025. CharMar Brown added 474 rushing yards and seven touchdowns. Malachi Toney emerged as the Hurricanes’ top receiving threat, totaling 1,211 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns, while Keelan Marion added 57 receptions for 746 yards. Defensively, Mohamed Toure led Miami with 84 total tackles, while Bryce Fitzgerald paced the secondary with a team-high six interceptions.

Former Missouri edge rusher Damon Wilson II is expected to play a major role in replacing the production lost by Bain Jr. and Mesidor. Wilson recorded nine sacks, 23 total tackles and one interception last season, giving the Hurricanes another disruptive pass rusher off the edge. Quarterback Darian Mensah transferred from Duke to replace Beck after leading the Blue Devils to an ACC Championship and a Sun Bowl victory over Arizona State. Mensah is expected to start in 2026, bringing dual-threat ability to an offense looking to become more dynamic on the ground. Cooper Barkate will reunite with Mensah in Miami, giving the Hurricanes an experienced playmaker to strengthen the receiving corps. On paper, Miami’s 2026 schedule is favorable, with marquee matchups against Clemson, Florida State and Notre Dame highlighting the season. The Fighting Irish’s offensive line will provide a major test for Miami’s rebuilt defensive front, while the hostile road environment and late-November conditions could make one of the season’s toughest matchups even more challenging. The Notre Dame game is followed immediately by a home matchup against defending 2025 ACC champion Duke, creating one of the toughest stretches on Miami’s schedule.

Despite those challenges, Miami enters 2026 as one of the ACC favorites after assembling one of the nation’s top transfer classes. If Mensah settles into the offense and the rebuilt defensive front performs as expected, the Hurricanes have the talent to return to the College Football Playoff. Most analysts project the Hurricanes to finish with 10 or 11 wins while contending for both the ACC Championship and another College Football Playoff berth.

Miami Hurricanes 2026-2027 Schedule & Tickets:

The Georgia Bulldogs finished the 2025 season with a 12–2 record, but fell short of their national championship expectations. Georgia defeated four ranked opponents during the regular season and beat rival Alabama in the SEC Championship Game, 24–21. However, its season ended in the College Football Playoff after a narrow 39–34 loss to Ole Miss. 

Head coach Kirby Smart promoted Phil Rauscher to offensive line coach after Stacy Searels transitioned into an analyst role. Rauscher brings 16 years of coaching experience at both the NFL and collegiate levels, most recently serving as the Jacksonville Jaguars’ offensive line coach and run game coordinator. Former Georgia running back Robert Edwards was named the team’s assistant running backs coach following David Hill’s departure to Colorado State. Larry Knight was hired as the Bulldogs’ outside linebackers coach after Chidera Uzo-Diribe accepted a position with the Dallas Cowboys.

Georgia had eight players selected in the 2026 NFL Draft, headlined by offensive tackle Monroe Freeling. Freeling was selected 19th overall by the Carolina Panthers after earning Second-Team All-SEC honors, starting 13 of 14 games at left tackle and being named SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week twice.

Defensive tackle Christen Miller was selected by the New Orleans Saints in the second round, while linebacker CJ Allen went to the Indianapolis Colts later in the round. Offensive standouts Oscar Delp and Zachariah Branch were both selected in the third round, followed by cornerback Daylen Everette, who was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers later in the round. Wide receiver Colbie Young was selected in the fourth round, while guard Micah Morris rounded out Georgia’s draft class after being drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the sixth round.

Wide receiver Dillon Bell signed with the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent. During his collegiate career, Bell totaled 119 receptions for 1,269 receiving yards, added 655 rushing yards and scored 20 total touchdowns. 

In his first season as Georgia’s starting quarterback, Gunner Stockton threw for 2,894 yards, 24 touchdowns and five interceptions while completing 69.7% of his passes in 2025. Stockton also rushed for 462 yards and 10 touchdowns. Nate Frazier led the Bulldogs with 947 rushing yards, while Branch paced the receiving corps with 81 receptions, 811 receiving yards and six touchdowns. London Humphreys added 276 receiving yards and three touchdowns, while Noah Thomas recorded 254 receiving yards and four touchdowns.

Linebacker Chris Cole led Georgia with 4.5 sacks, while Allen paced the Bulldogs with 88 total tackles. Ellis Robinson IV led the team with four interceptions.

Georgia’s 2026 transfer class ranks 19th nationally, according to 247Sports’ transfer rankings. Georgia added nine transfers, headlined by Bryson Beaver, Isiah Canion, Dante Dowdell and Amaris Williams. Smart emphasized the need to add quality depth to complement Georgia’s young, talented roster. Dowdell provides a physical presence in short-yardage situations, while Canion gives the Bulldogs a proven vertical threat with the speed to separate from defensive backs downfield.

Beaver provides experienced depth behind Stockton after Georgia lost five-star quarterback Jared Curtis to Vanderbilt during the recruiting cycle. However, Williams suffered a torn ACL during an April practice before Georgia’s spring game. The injury is expected to sideline the former Auburn Tiger for the 2026 season.

Georgia’s 2026 schedule features a demanding nine-game SEC slate highlighted by matchups against Alabama, Florida and Ole Miss. The Oct. 10 showdown with Alabama in Tuscaloosa could prove especially pivotal, as Smart is 1–7 against the Crimson Tide and 0–2 on the road in the series. A victory would strengthen Georgia’s position in the College Football Playoff race, while a loss would leave less margin for error the rest of the season.

Despite this, Georgia still boasts one of the nation’s most talented rosters and remains a strong contender for a College Football Playoff berth. Many analysts project the Bulldogs to finish with 10 to 11 wins, although several potential trap games could complicate that path.

Georgia Bulldogs Schedule & Tickets:

The NBA offseason has featured several blockbuster moves that have reshaped the league. The Miami Heat acquired Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Brooklyn Nets landed Julius Randle, and the Philadelphia 76ers sent Paul George to the Boston Celtics in exchange for Jaylen Brown. While many of the league’s biggest stars changed teams, one proposed trade would send three-time MVP Nikola Jokić of the Nuggets to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

In this hypothetical proposal, Minnesota would send Rudy Gobert, Donte DiVincenzo, Joan Beringer, Terrence Shannon Jr., multiple first-round picks and a 2030 second-round pick to the Nuggets in exchange for Jokić.

The 31-year-old carries a $59 million cap hit for the 2026-27 season and holds a $62.8 million player option for the following year. Jokić has delayed extension talks until next summer, positioning himself to potentially sign a record-setting five-year supermax contract. Denver has limited salary-cap flexibility this offseason, restricting its ability to improve the roster around its franchise star. The Nuggets recently signed Marvin Bagley III to a one-year contract to add veteran depth in the frontcourt.

Denver would likely consider trading its franchise cornerstone only if Jokić refused to re-sign next summer, allowing the Nuggets to recoup significant assets rather than risk losing him for nothing.

Retaining Jokić long-term could require moving on from valuable veterans such as Aaron Gordon or Peyton Watson to create additional financial flexibility. Gordon is set to earn $33.6 million this season and has dealt with injuries throughout his career, making him a potential trade candidate.

Watson, meanwhile, is coming off a breakout 2025 campaign and is reportedly seeking an extension worth roughly $25 million annually. A new contract at that price would further increase Denver’s luxury-tax burden, making him another player the Nuggets could explore moving if they prioritize cap flexibility.

A core of Jokić, Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball would give the Timberwolves one of the NBA’s most talented trios. While acquiring a three-time MVP would come at a steep cost, the move could position Minnesota to contend for its first NBA championship.

After clinching bowl berths in four consecutive seasons, Kansas State took a step back in 2025, finishing 6-6. Despite the Big 12’s media poll being discontinued, numerous outlets projected the Wildcats to finish in the top third of the conference before the season began. Kansas State declined a bowl invite due to concerns about player availability and an ongoing coaching transition. As a result, the Big 12 fined the program $500,000.

Former quarterback Collin Klein was hired to succeed Chris Klieman, who retired last December. Before returning to Kansas State, Klein served as Texas A&M’s offensive coordinator after spending the 2022 season as Kansas State’s offensive coordinator. Klein signed a five-year, $21.5 million contract that included perks such as 20 hours of private air travel and a corporate credit card. Kansas State also allocated $6.5 million for Klein to build his coaching staff. Klein enjoyed a storied collegiate career, posting a 22-6 record as a starter, becoming one of the program’s all-time leaders in rushing touchdowns and finishing third in Heisman Trophy voting in 2012.

Klein hired former Missouri quarterbacks coach Sean Gleeson as offensive coordinator and former Kansas defensive backs coach Jordan Peterson as defensive coordinator.

Two players were selected in the 2026 NFL Draft: interior offensive lineman Sam Hecht by the Carolina Panthers in the fifth round and safety VJ Payne by the New York Jets in the seventh round. Defensive tackle Uso Seumalo signed with the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent. 

Avery Johnson finished the 2025 season with 2,385 passing yards, 18 touchdowns and six interceptions. He also rushed for 477 yards and eight touchdowns. Johnson announced in January that he would return to Kansas State for another season. Joe Jackson led the Wildcats with 911 rushing yards. Jayce Brown and Jaron Tibbs headlined Kansas State’s receiving corps, recording 712 and 595 receiving yards, respectively. Tight end Garrett Oakley led the team with six receiving touchdowns. Daniel Cobb led the defense with three interceptions, while Cody Stufflebean recorded a team-high 4.5 sacks. Linebackers Desmond Purnell and Austin Romaine combined for 138 total tackles. 

Kansas State’s 2026 transfer class ranks 45th nationally, headlined by Wendell Gregory and Joshua Manning. Gregory was named Freshman Defensive Player of the Year last season after recording four sacks and 27 total tackles, while Manning gives the Wildcats an experienced playmaker at wide receiver. Other notable additions include Jay Harris (Oregon), Mekhi Mason (Louisiana Tech) and Ja’Son Prevard (Virginia). Despite those additions, offensive tackles Tobi Osunsanmi and Chiddi Obiazor both transferred to Indiana. 

The Wildcats have a favorable schedule in 2026 despite fielding a retooled roster. Notable opponents include Cincinnati, Arizona State, TCU and Iowa State. The matchups against Cincinnati and Iowa State could be the season’s most important, as they may have major implications for the Big 12 standings. A strong season is within reach because Kansas State’s non-conference opponents experienced significant roster turnover, while five of its nine conference games are against teams with slim chances of winning the Big 12. Some analysts project the Wildcats to finish 8–4 in 2026.

Kansas State 2026-2027 Schedule & Tickets:

The Michigan Wolverines finished the 2025 season with a 9-4 record. Highlights of the season included outscoring opponents 331-224 and securing victories over Michigan State and Northwestern. However, Michigan fell to Ohio State 27-9 in “The Game” and ended its season with a loss to Texas in the Citrus Bowl.

Last December, former head coach Sherrone Moore was fired due to an inappropriate relationship with a staff member. In April 2026, Moore pleaded no contest in a Washtenaw County, Michigan, court to trespassing and malicious use of a telecommunications device in a domestic relationship. He was sentenced to 18 months’ probation after evidence emerged that he had access to the security code for the former staff member’s home and that she had contacted him during the incidents. 

Assistant coach Biff Poggi served as the team’s interim head coach before the program hired former Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham on December 26. Michigan also hired Dave Peloquin as its new general manager. Offensive coordinator Jason Beck followed Whittingham to Ann Arbor, while BYU’s Jay Hill was hired as the program’s new defensive coordinator.  

Six players were selected in the 2026 NFL Draft, with edge rusher Derrick Moore headlining the class. Moore was selected by the Detroit Lions in the second round. In 2025, Moore recorded 10 sacks and 30 total tackles. 

Other selections included tight end Max Klein and linebackers Jaishawn Barham and Jimmy Rolder. Kicker Dominic Zvada signed with the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent. 

Quarterback Bryce Underwood had a strong freshman season, throwing for 2,428 yards, 11 touchdowns, and nine interceptions while completing 60.3% of his passes. Underwood also rushed for 392 yards on 88 carries and scored six touchdowns. Jordan Marshall and Justice Haynes led Michigan’s ground game, combining for more than 1,700 rushing yards and 20 touchdowns. Andrew Marsh was the team’s leading receiver, recording 651 yards, 45 receptions and four touchdowns. 

Linebacker Cole Sullivan led the defense with three interceptions, while Rolder paced the team with 73 total tackles. 

According to 247Sports’ transfer rankings, Michigan’s 2026 class ranks 24th in the nation. Former Utah edge rusher John Henry Daley is one of the top additions after a breakout 2025 season in which he recorded 11.5 sacks and 48 total tackles. Receiver JJ Buchanan and defensive back Smith Snowden are the other key additions expected to contribute immediately. Despite the additions, Michigan suffered several key losses. Haynes transferred to Georgia Tech, Sullivan departed for Oklahoma and defensive back Hayden Sanders transferred to Notre Dame. 

Michigan’s 2026 schedule features several challenging contests, with Ohio State, Indiana and Oregon among the most notable opponents. Oklahoma and Iowa also present potential trap games, as both teams have rosters capable of competing with elite talent. Whittingham’s experience should help Michigan play physically and stay disciplined, but it remains unclear whether the Wolverines can consistently navigate such a difficult slate. As a result, many analysts project Michigan to finish 8–4 in 2026.

The 2025 season was a massive letdown in Happy Valley. Penn State entered last season with lofty expectations after coming up one game short of the National Championship in 2024.

Many believe the Oregon game was the “defining moment” of the season because head coach James Franklin has a reputation for losing big games. Franklin was 4–21 at Penn State against AP Top 10 teams. However, the game at UCLA foreshadowed what was going to come. 

Penn State entered as a 24.5-point favorite over the Bruins but lost 42-37. UCLA quarterback Nico Iamaleava recorded five touchdowns (two passing and three rushing) that game. Franklin was fired after a loss to Northwestern in Penn State’s homecoming game; Terry Smith served as the interim coach for the remainder of the season. The Virginia Tech Hokies hired Franklin on November 17, 2025, after he signed a five-year contract. Smith signed a four-year extension to stay as assistant head coach. 

The losing streak was snapped with a 28-10 victory at Michigan State, and Penn State won its final two games to finish the regular season 6-6. At Yankee Stadium, Penn State defeated Clemson 22-10 in the Pinstripe Bowl. The 6-6 finish was Penn State’s worst since 2020, when the Nittany Lions went 4-5.

Ex-Iowa State head coach Matt Campbell is set to succeed Franklin after signing an eight-year, $70.5 million contract last December. The contract also grants an automatic one-year extension if Penn State makes the College Football Playoff. Offensive coordinator Taylor Mouser and offensive line coach Ryan Clanton followed Campbell from Iowa State to fill in the vacancies at Penn State. Following defensive coordinator Jim Knowles’ departure for the Tennessee Volunteers, D’Anton Lynn was hired as his replacement.

Trebor Pena and Devonte Ross led the receiving corps with 552 and 501 receiving yards, respectively. Ross also led the team with five receiving touchdowns. Dani Dennis-Sutton was a force on the defensive side of the ball, recording 8.5 sacks and 42 total tackles. Linebacker Amare Campbell led the team with 103 total tackles.

The Nittany Lions’ 2026 transfer class was ranked fourth in the nation and first in the Big Ten. Two dozen players from Iowa State followed Campbell to Happy Valley, including quarterback Rocco Becht, tight end Ben Brahmer, wide receiver Chase Sowell and safety Marcus Neal Jr. Despite those additions, Penn State lost defensive end Chaz Coleman to Tennessee, cornerback A.J. Harris to Indiana and safety King Mack to NC State.

Becht is expected to be Penn State’s starting quarterback in 2026. He is one of the most experienced quarterbacks in the country, having thrown for over 9,000 yards and 64 touchdowns during his collegiate career. 

Penn State’s 2026 schedule seems favorable on paper because its opponents combined for a 73-77 record in 2025, and the Nittany Lions will avoid Ohio State, Oregon and Indiana, the top teams in the conference. Their toughest games appear to be road matchups against Michigan in Ann Arbor and Washington in Seattle, as well as a home contest against USC. Many analysts project Penn State to finish with nine or 10 wins, with the outcome of the USC game likely playing a significant role in that projection. While it remains unclear whether a College Football Playoff berth is within reach, the Nittany Lions appear well-positioned for a rebound season if they can maintain consistent play throughout the year.

He’s a legend and currently the head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes. The Buffaloes are at a crossroads, with Sanders now under pressure after a disappointing 2025 season and the departure of several players to the transfer portal. As he works to rebuild the program through recruiting, there are also questions about the role of his son, Deion Sanders Jr., who runs the Well Off Media YouTube channel covering the team.
