The Washington Commanders will have an alternate uniform in 2025, and it’s a lot like how the franchise used to look on a weekly basis.

The Commanders announced that the club will debut its “Super Bowl Era” uniform and helmet this season, which resembles the traditional kit the team wore under its previous name. The uniform includes a white jersey with burgundy pants that sport gold and white stripes down the side. The “W” helmet also has two white stripes and a gold stripe in the middle with a gold facemask.

“We are excited to celebrate Washington’s rich history with these iconic, Super Bowl Era uniforms this season,” Commanders President Mark Clouse said in a press release. “Ever since Josh Harris and our ownership group acquired the team back in 2023, they’ve placed great value in finding ways to connect the past and present and pay homage to those that made the Burgundy and Gold what it is today.”

As the Commanders’ announcement notes, the uniform design is inspired by what the franchise wore during Super Bowl seasons of 1982, 1987, and 1991.

“These uniforms honor the most successful era of our franchise – one that reflects a culture of excellence and encompasses many historical moments and special memories amongst our fanbase,” Clouse said. “We look forward to bringing that nostalgic feeling back to fans, while incorporating a modern feel for our next generation of fans.”

The Commanders will debut the uniform against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 9 on Sunday Night Football. They will also wear it against the Denver Broncos in Week 13 and the Dallas Cowboys in Week 17.

The New York Giants have revealed their Century Red throwback uniforms for the franchise’s 100th season in a move that intertwines nostalgia with marketing. This decision honors the team’s past but creates a new sense of excitement in the brand.

The Century Red uniform, which will debut on the field for up to two home games in 2024, is a homage to the Giants’ history. Featuring a thick blue stripe beneath white numbers and complemented by tan pants and red-and-blue striped socks, the uniform is a recreation of the 1933 jerseys. The design choice is significant, as 1933 was the year the Giants played in their first NFL Championship Game. The inclusion of tan pants, dating back to the franchise’s inception in 1925 when Tim Mara purchased the team for $500, further cements the historical significance.

The Giants will sport the winged helmet that played from 1937 to 1947, including their 1938 championship season. This helmet and the “100 seasons” commemorative patch display the franchise’s legacy while celebrating a milestone few NFL teams have achieved.

The Giants’ current home and road uniforms already pay homage to the past, drawing inspiration from the 1950s designs. The blue home jerseys, introduced in 2000, and the white road jerseys, introduced in 2005, reflect the classic styles fans have come to cherish.

While there is undoubtedly a commercial aspect to these decisions, it’s hard to ignore the Giants’ appreciation for history. Where sports franchises often chase the latest trends, the Giants’ dedication to their heritage stands out as a respectful nod to the past.

The Century Red uniforms visually link to the Giants’ early years, reminding fans of the team’s growth. As the Giants step onto the field wearing these throwback uniforms, they pay tribute to past legends and inspire current players to honor the legacy.

In celebrating their 100th season, the Giants have struck a balance between reverence for the past and enthusiasm for the future.

The Dallas Cowboys unveiled a new white helmet in their Thursday Night Football game against the Tennessee Titans. Combined with their Color Rush jersey, the uniform has been referred to as the “Arctic Cowboy” look. Dallas is the only NFL team to use two alternate helmets this season after unveiling a similar uniform on Thanksgiving.

The Cowboys’ new “Arctic White” helmet is the first time the team has ever used a white face mask on a white helmet. The monochromatic look will pair with the team’s all-white Color Rush uniform, first worn by the team in 2015. The NFL’s Color Rush promotion formally ended in 2018, but the Cowboys have used the uniform many times since as an alternate.

The Titans will also wear their Color Rush uniforms, donning navy blue for their matchup with Dallas. They will enter the contest as heavy underdogs, as the team will again compete without quarterback Ryan Tannehill, who suffered an ankle injury in Week 15 against the Chargers. Backup quarterback Joshua Dobbs will start ahead of rookie Malik Willis.

With two weeks remaining in the regular season, the Cowboys have already clinched a spot in the playoffs and could still technically win the NFC East by winning out. The team defeated the Eagles last weekend to make this possible, but Philadelphia would also have to lose both of their remaining games, making this unlikely. Led by quarterback Dak Prescott and defensive star Micah Parsons, the Cowboys seem prepared to make a deep postseason run.

Meanwhile, with a 7-8 record, the Titans still have a chance to win the AFC South. They currently share the top spot with the Jaguars, who are favored to defeat the Houston Texans this weekend. Jacksonville and Tennessee will then face off in Week 18 in a game that will decide the division.

On Monday, the San Francisco Giants unveiled their alternate jersey from the City Connect series. The alternate City Connect uniform features an orange and white design, with a silhouette of the Golden Gate Bridge and a unique fog gradient across the front, sleeves and numbering of the jerseys.

“Sometimes hidden, but always vibrant,” the Giants tweet said.

“We took main focuses for us that really stood out about San Francisco,” Giants executive vice president of business operations Mario Alioto said. “One of them was the Golden Gate Bridge. It’s internationally known everywhere in the world. It’s a sign of welcoming to San Francisco. And as Mark Twain made famous, the coldest winter ever spent in the summer in San Francisco. The fog is what makes our city different.”

The uniforms will be worn by the Giants for the first time during its series on Friday through Sunday against the Washington Nationals. San Francisco will also wear it every Tuesday home game for the rest of the season.

The Giants took an open-minded approach during the design process, and they landed on one that they felt was both classic and modern. It was a design that paid homage to the uniforms that the team wore during the playing days of Willie Mays to the present.

“When you close your eyes and think about San Francisco, you think about the Giant orange, like the color that visually identified our team,” Giant’s director of retail and authentication Gavin Werner said. “As we saw through the design process, the one that stood out the strongest leaned into that orange and allowed that orange to be represented on the headwear, on the sock, on some of the undershirt.”

The team decided on the “G” on the Giants’ logo because it is instantly identifiable by locals and baseball fans. The “G” uses themes of the Golden Gate Bridge and the team decided to elongate the lettering to resemble the iconic structure and add the bridge’s silhouette to the side of the hat.

In the first round of the NBA playoffs, perennial superstar James Harden rocked his signature Volume 5 sneaker – but the design detailed on the shoes was a unique ode to both the Philippines and Filipino basketball fans.

The sneakers were designed by Juanito Maiquez, a Filipino toy designer who was tabbed to create the design for this version of the Volume 5 shoe. Specifically, the sneaker itself bore the colors of the Phillippines’ flag (blue, red, yellow and white), alongside patterns and elements indicative of Filipino culture. Maiquez was pleasantly surprised to discover Harden debuting his version of the shoe during his game against the Celtics, sending out numerous photos via social media of the superstar wearing the sneakers:

The shoe has been in production for well over a year, with the design process alone taking well over a month and a half. Notable changes to the shoe design worked out during this process include adding the Philippines’ country code for calls, as well as the date for when Harden last visited the nation. In order to better reward Maiquez and publicly display the exceptional creativity of Filipino artists, Maiquez’s name was also weaved into the shoe’s design.

While Harden is one of the only people currently able to lace up this version of his Volume 5 shoes, the newest version of the Adidas kicks will be available for the public to purchase on June 12 – a final tribute to the Philippines, with the day being the nation’s Independence Day.

Missouri City native rapper Travis Scott is back with another pricey yet highly-demanded collaboration. Scott has a new shoe deal with Air Jordan. The rapper recently worked with the mega-brand to create the Travis Scott x Air Jordan Retro SP “British Khaki.”

According to Joshua Espinoza at Complex, “the Houston rapper replenished his online store with a range of new merch inspired by the world of motorsports.”

Some people think that the color scheme of the new shoe is “disgusting,” but personally, I think the new kicks are fresh. The release of the new shoes stay true to the Cactus Jack look with Scott’s signature browns and beiges. To supplement the new shoe release, the rapper included new merchandise, including graphic tees, hoodies, rugby sweaters and backpacks. Similar to the shoes, the merchandise offering comes in dark brown colors with splashes of red as well.

Most recently, Scott tapped Richard “Rip” Hamilton to star in a post-apocalyptic video to market his second Air Jordan 6 release. Throughout the three-time All-Star’s 14-season NBA career, Hamilton was a member of the Jordan Brand, lacing up a myriad of enviable player exclusive sneakers, including his favorite, a pair of Jordan 5s he wore to drop 51 points at Madison Square Garden in 2006.

The new merchandise is available on Scott’s online store. However, it now appears that almost everything has sold out, with the exception of a few shirts and bags. Fans were able to receive raffles for the Air Jordan release, but that is also currently sold out. The collaborative shoe drops today on Scott’s 29th birthday.

Although some reviewers have cited the shoe’s ugly color pattern, I think the kicks look lit. Even if the shoes didn’t look fresh, it seems like anything that Scott puts his name on sells remarkably well. Because of all the hype that comes with a Travis Scott release, these shoes retailing at $250 could easily end up selling for thousands on the secondary market.

It’s an absolute fiesta for Spurs fans as they have finally gotten their wish. For years now, fans of the San Antonio Spurs have longed for a “fiesta jersey” to be created.

San Antonio announced the introduction of the new fiesta jerseys that will be the Nike “City Edition” line of special jerseys. The jersey is a throwback to the fiesta colors used by the team in the 1990s. It also will be different from the military camouflage jerseys they use for the Nike “City Edition.” Ever since 2013, the Nike “City Edition” jerseys have been decorated with camouflage to pay homage to San Antonio status as a “military city.”

The fiesta jersey colors were used by the San Antonio Spurs throughout the 1990s and were primarily seen on their warmup jackets in the 1990s. It was also seen on the Alamodome court where the Spurs played from 1993-2002 before moving to AT&T Arena where they currently play. The fiesta colors were prominent as the old Spurs logo was dabbed in bright colors from 1993-2002.

Since then, fans have been clamoring for the team to introduce jerseys with the bright fiesta colors again. The team has taken notice and has been teasing fans for this with various Twitter memes to bait them.

A few hours before the announcement of the fiesta city jerseys for next season, the team tweeted out another tease.

Fans will be able to preorder the jerseys starting on December 9.

Nike and Sacai released a collaboration shoe earlier this month that consisted of both a black and white colorway. Now, the power duo is coming out with another collaboration of outerwear including hoodies and Parkas.

Chitose Abe, of the outerwear, reflects his ethos design. 2020 is the 30-year anniversary of the iconic Air Jordan 5. For the special occasion, Jordan is releasing the Off-White X Air Jordan 5, which were inspired by the OG Metallic Air Jordan 5 colorway.

The Off-White X Air Jordan 5 is constructed with a black textile mesh with Off-Whites signature on the laces “Shoelaces,” a reflective tongue that has a red Jumpman logo. There is a synthetic overlay in the shape of a circle that’s in the netted side panels of the shoe. The number 23 is branded on the ankles with concrete speckled on the shark teeth on the midsole. The shoe will come with three shoelaces in black, white and red.

The Off White X Air Jordan 5 is part of the 8×8 initiative by Nike for the 2020 NBA All-Star Weekend. It comes in all sizes, including children’s sizes. They are available at the retail price of $225.

The special and eye-opening shoe release this month is the Air Jordan 10 Retro Wings. They are part of Chicago’s collaborators’ Collection for the 2020 NBA All-Star game. The Wings’ design was created to connect with high school students bonding the educational program with shoes and apparel. The Air Jordan 10 was originally released in the 1994-1995 season. This was Hall-of-Famer Micheal Jordan‘s tenth signature shoe. The original black and red colorway of the said to be “Banned” Air Jordan 1 hi 85’s have been reversed to the red and black scheme.  The Reverse Air Jordan 1 Hi 85 also go by many nicknames such as the “Varsity Reds” and “Alternate Breed.” The Reverse Air Jordan 1 Hi 85 is part of Jordan’s “New Beginnings” release of all the bull color Air Jordan 1 plus the original retro shoe, the Nike Air Ship.

The sneaker is said to be relatively close to the original design of the 1985 Air Jordan Hi. The version of the shoe comes with a hangtag made with original archived images. The shoe was released on February 8 of this year and had 23,000 pairs of the shoe made and packaged with the retro style packaging and a drawstring bag. The Reversed Air Jordan 1 hi 85 will not be one to be missed by sneakerheads and Jordan fans. The shoe is selling on average $610 with a high of $830 and a low of $300s.

The design originated from the Black and Red Color scheme that was said to be “banned” from the NBA back in the 1984-1985 season when Michael Jordan wore them. They were illegal to wear during games because of a uniform rule that the league had set in place to make sure that no one would fashionably standout.
