The Tampa Bay Rays started 2025 on a positive note by recording a 47-38 record in the first three months of the season. However, Tampa Bay would falter the remainder of the season, going 30-47 the rest of the way to finish 77-85. 2025 was also notable because the Rays played at George M. Steinbrenner Field while Tropicana Field was undergoing repairs following Hurricane Milton.

Third baseman Junior Caminero fell to catcher Cal Raleigh in the Home Run Derby 15-18 after beating out Byron Buxton the previous round, 8-7. The infielder also made the All-Star Game as a replacement after Alex Bregman’s injury. Caminero experienced a breakout season in 2025, hitting 45 home runs and 110 RBIs on a .264 batting average.

Catcher Nick Fortes was traded to the Rays on July 29, 2025, for Matthew Etzel, while Curtis Mead was involved in a trade for ex-White Sox pitcher Adrian Houser at the trade deadline.

Their offense was ninth in the majors in batting average, batting .251 on the season. The offense also hit 182 home runs and recorded 680 RBIs. The pitching staff ranked 15th in the majors in ERA, with a 3.94 ERA. They also struck out 1,416 batters and surrendered 1,273 hits.

Yandy Díaz led the team in hits with 175 and hit 25 home runs with 83 RBIs on a .300 batting average. Brandon Lowe had 31 home runs and 83 RBIs in 2025, while Chandler Simpson stole 44 bases. Pitcher Shane Baz struck out 176 batters, surrendered 91 runs and gave up 158 hits on a 4.87 ERA. Drew Rasmussen posted a 10-5 record in 31 starts and maintained a 2.76 ERA in 150 innings. Ryan Pepiot maintained a 3.86 ERA in 167.2 innings, striking out 167 batters and giving up 77 runs in the process.

Former New York Met Steven Matz signed a one-year contract last December to bolster pitching depth while Baz was traded to the Orioles for a prospect haul and a competitive balance round A selection for the 2026 draft. Shane McClanahan resigned on a one-year deal; in addition, Jake Fraley signed a one-year deal in November 2025. The Rays were involved in a three-team trade with the Reds and Angels, acquiring Gavin Lux and Chris Clark.

Tampa Bay isn’t expected to do much in 2026, but they seem to always have something up their sleeve to shock people. The Rays have a decent pitching rotation and are built around strong hitters, including Caminero and Díaz. However, they’re in an unlucky position because of their division – the Yankees always field competitive teams while the Blue Jays have a strong roster ready to compete for another AL pennant. The Red Sox and Orioles can’t be counted out due to their offensive cores. FanGraphs projects the Rays to finish 2026 around .500 (81-81).

According to DraftKings, the Rays currently have +250 odds of making the playoffs and +7500 odds of winning the World Series in 2026.

One month through the season, Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Jose Soriano has looked like the best pitcher in baseball.

Soriano was named the Angels’ Opening Day starter, their third different opening day starter since losing Shohei Ohtani in free agency. Despite this, Soriano didn’t have high expectations entering the season.

In 2025, Soriano had a 4.26 ERA in 31 starts. His one bright spot was the lack of home runs he gave up. He gave up just 12 home runs in 2025, the lowest rate among qualifying starters.

Soriano has always been able to throw hard, with an average fastball of 97 miles per hour. However, he allowed too many base runners. In 2025, he allowed eight hits per nine and four walks per nine.

This season, he’s changed his strategy on the mound. He uses his fastball more while using his sinker less. This has helped him throw more strikes, reducing his walks per nine from four to three.

More importantly, it’s made him harder to hit. He has just four hits per nine, the best hits per nine in the American League. The increased reliance on his fastball has led to his strikeout percentage rising from 21% in 2025 to 30% in 2026. The more selective use of his sinker has caused hitters to be under his pitches more. In 2025, only 8.6% of contact off Soriano was considered under. In 2026, that number has risen to 18%.

The Angels have a 12-17 record this season. However, they have a 6-0 record when Soriano starts, including Soriano getting the win in five of those starts.

Despite the Angels’ struggles, they’ve had good performances from many players. Soriano has a 0.24 ERA, Mike Trout has a .961 OPS, Zach Neto has a .360 on-base percentage, and Oswald Peraza has a .280 batting average.

The Philadelphia Eagles drafted wide receiver Makai Lemon after a trade with the Dallas Cowboys.

The Eagles acquired the No. 20 overall pick and 2027 seventh-round pick, while the Cowboys acquired the No. 23 overall pick and two 2026 fourth-round picks. The Eagles drafted Lemon while the Cowboys drafted defensive end Malachi Lawrence.

Lemon was widely considered to be one of the top WR prospects in this draft class. Some mock drafts had him going as high as the No. 5 overall pick by the New York Giants.

ESPN reported that A.J. Brown will likely be traded to the New England Patriots after June 1. This means the Eagles were looking for new WR options.

With Lemon falling in the draft, the Eagles knew they needed to act, causing them to make the trade to move up three spots in the draft. According to NFL.com’s production score, Lemon was the most productive WR in college football. Most scouts agree that he has the skills to succeed at the NFL level, but some questioned whether he had the athletic ability.

The Eagles held five picks on Day 3 of the NFL Draft. They drafted quarterback Cole Payton, offensive guard Micah Morris, safety Cole Wisniewski, defensive tackle Uar Bernard and edge rusher Keyshawn James-Newby.

The Eagles originally had another Day 3 pick in the fifth round. They traded this pick and a 2027 sixth-round pick to the Green Bay Packers for Dontayvion Wicks.

Wicks gives the Eagles another option at WR. In 2025, he had 30 receptions for 332 yards. The Eagles immediately gave Wicks a one-year, $12.5 million extension after the trade.

The Eagles’ new offensive coordinator, Sean Mannion, wants to add more creative routes to the Eagles’ playbook. Lemon and Wicks have the skill sets to help make the Eagles’ offense more dynamic.

Diego Pavia signed a three-year contract with the Baltimore Ravens.

Pavia received an invitation to the Ravens’ minicamp after the 2026 NFL Draft. The Heisman runner-up went undrafted but has now received guaranteed money from the Ravens.

Originally, Pavia didn’t see pro football as a career path. He went to the New Mexico Military Institute out of high school. However, after playing football there, he realized his potential. He transferred to New Mexico State before the 2022 season. He threw for 26 touchdowns and nine interceptions in his second season at New Mexico State before transferring to Vanderbilt.

This is why Pavia entered the draft as a 24-year-old. He’s older than most of the other draft prospects. However, Ty Simpson was drafted in the first round and is only a year younger.

Pavia had another factor that dropped his draft stock. He is just 5-foot-10. This ties him with Kyler Murray and Bryce Young as the shortest quarterback in the league. However, Murray and Young were both 22 during their rookie seasons.

There were some character questions with Pavia. After the Heisman voting was released, Pavia posted “f— the voters” on social media. He later apologized for this post. Although it’s unclear whether this impacted his draft stock, many teams do consider professionalism and sportsmanship when drafting, particularly for late-round picks, who are less likely to play early on.

All of these factors likely played a role in Pavia going undrafted. Despite being undrafted, he showed enough talent to earn a spot with the Ravens.

Lamar Jackson is the obvious starter, but Pavia could compete with Tyler Huntley for the backup spot. Former UConn QB Joe Fagnano was also invited to Ravens minicamp, but it’s unclear if he’ll be able to earn a roster spot now that Pavia has been signed.

The Arizona Cardinals drafted quarterback Carson Beck in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft.

The Cardinals are trying to figure out the future of the QB position after releasing Kyler Murray earlier this offseason. Beck was once considered the best QB prospect of this draft class, but he was surpassed by Fernando Mendoza and Ty Simpson.

Beck threw for 3,813 yards and 30 touchdowns with Miami last season. Beck was considered one of the most accurate passers in college football, leading the nation in completion percentage. However, Beck sometimes had trouble dealing with pressure. He threw 12 interceptions in each of his final two seasons of college.

NFL scouts praised his ball placement abilities, but questioned his decision-making. The decision-making questions led him to fall to the third round.

The Cardinals’ first-round selection of Jeremiyah Love drew mixed reception from analysts. Some thought that the talent of Love could add a spark to the Cardinals’ offense, while others thought the Cardinals had more pressing matters to attend to. Love is expected to sign a four-year, $50 million contract with the Cardinals, which will make him the highest-paid running back in the league.

The rest of the Cardinals’ draft picks generally got praised by analysts. Outside of Beck, they also drafted offensive guard Chase Bisontis, defensive tackle Kaleb Proctor, wide receiver Reggie Virgil, linebacker Karson Sharar and offensive tackle Jayden Williams. NFL analyst Chad Reuter praised the Cardinals’ selection of Beck.

“Despite his lukewarm film over the past two seasons, he has the physical attributes to be an NFL starter,” Reuter said.

Despite releasing Murray, the Cardinals kept veteran QB Jacoby Brissett. They also signed Gardner Minshew earlier this offseason. Beck will need to prove he’s better than these two veteran QBs if he wants to start this season.

The Pittsburgh Steelers drafted running back Eli Heidenreich in the seventh round of the 2026 NFL Draft.

Heidenreich is from Mount Lebanon, a suburb of Pittsburgh. He played four years with Navy before declaring for the 2026 NFL Draft.

During his senior season at Mount Lebanon High School, he had 1,325 yards and 28 touchdowns to lead the team to a state championship. This was the last time a Class 6A public school won the state championship.

After his senior season, he committed to Navy. He followed in the footsteps of his grandfather and uncle.

Heidenreich did not play in his freshman season. He played his first college football game on Aug. 26, 2023, against Notre Dame. He had three rushes for 12 yards.

Through his college career, he was considered a two-way back. He was able to receive just as well as he could run. In his senior season, he had 941 receiving yards.

He was known for getting lots of yards after the catch. In his senior season, he had 18.5 yards per reception, the most in college football in 2025.

Heidenreich received an invite to the NFL Scouting Combine. Before the combine, he was considered to be a prospect on the outside looking in. However, after putting up 4.44 seconds on the 40-yard dash, 35.5 inches on the vertical leap and a 10-foot broad jump, he rose on many mock draft boards.

The Steelers liked what they saw from Heidenreich. Currently, Jaylen Warren is the Steelers’ starter. He had 958 yards in 16 games last season. He is in the first year of a two-year, $12 million extension.

Heidenreich has not yet signed his rookie contract. It’s unclear whether he’ll be sent to the practice squad or will be given a chance to compete for a roster spot.

In a rare move, the Pittsburgh Steelers placed a UFA tender on veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers on Monday.

Using the UFA tender allows the Steelers to receive a compensatory draft pick if Rodgers decides to sign with another team, and it also limits him to signing with a team before training camp begins. This gives the Steelers exclusive negotiating rights if he does not sign with a team before July 22.

This will also allow Rodgers to accept a 10% raise over his last year’s salary, which would put his total contract at $15 million.

The Steelers still remain confident that they will strike a deal with the future Hall-of-Fame quarterback despite placing this tender on him. The decision is considered “procedural” if he decides to go to another team.

Rodgers didn’t sign until early June last year, signing a one-year deal right before the Steelers’ mandatory minicamp began.

The Steelers did draft a quarterback in the NFL draft, selecting former Penn State quarterback Drew Allar in the third round.

Head coach Mike McCarthy said that drafting Allar had no implications on Rodgers’ future with the Steelers, saying, “This is about developing the room and trying to make the room as deep as we possibly can.”

The Philadelphia Eagles used their final draft pick of the 2026 NFL draft on a complete project player who has never played organized football in his life.

Uar Bernard did not expect to hear his name called on Saturday before the Eagles made his dream come true and announced his name with the 251st pick. Bernard is from a small town in Nigeria and was drafted to be a defensive tackle.

“It’s a dream come true for me, because I’ve worked hard for this. I’ve not played football, but I’ve gone through some drills that made me believe that I’m going to get better every day,” Bernard said in his first press conference after being drafted.

“I thank God for everything. I thank God for life. I thank God for the opportunities given to me to be drafted by the Eagles.”

Bernard is a physical specimen, standing at 6’4 and weighing 306 pounds with just 6% body fat. He ran a very impressive 4.63 40-yard dash and a 39-inch vertical, which is remarkable considering his stature.

He was first introduced to football by former New York Giants defensive end Osi Umenyiora and got invited to the NFL Nigeria Camp in 2024.

Hall of Fame defensive end Michael Strahan called it a “smart pick,” adding that Eagles general manager Howie Roseman “very rarely misses.”

The New York Jets were expected to select a quarterback in this year’s NFL Draft, but it was unclear which one until they selected Clemson’s Cade Klubnik in the fourth round.

The Jets showed how much they wanted Klubnik by trading up 18 spots to select him, sending a pair of fourth-round picks to the Cincinnati Bengals.

Klubnik had an up-and-down career at Clemson, going 26-14 as a starter, his best season coming in 2024 when he led the Tigers to an ACC Championship.

Jets general manager Darren Mougey said that he “felt really good about Cade.”

“It started, obviously, last year, evaluating all those quarterbacks going into this year. We had good grades on Cade going in this year, and then, you’re watching this year, he got hurt early, and was playing hurt much of the year, and that team kind of struggled, but was excited to get around him at the combine.”

“Had a great combine interview, which kind of sparked us to want to get down to Clemson and work him out and spend some more time within, and we went down there, and again, it was a great exposure. Being there on campus with him in the room, talking about ball, felt very natural. Felt like there was a connection there. Getting on the field, doing the workout, showed well. So felt really good about Cade, a young player that has a lot of experience, you know, played a lot of snaps in high school, 30-0 record in Texas, went to Clemson as a young, I think, 17-year-old, three-year starter at Clemson won a lot of games there. Unfortunately, had a down year this year, but still, young, athletic with some upside, and feel really good about being able to get him.”

Klubnik was the fifth quarterback to be selected behind Fernando Mendoza (1), Ty Simpson (13), Carson Beck (65), and Drew Allar (76).

The Jets brought in veteran Geno Smith to be the starter, but Klubnik will compete with Brady Cook and Bailey Zappe for the team’s backup role.

Number one overall pick, Cooper Flagg, was named the 2026 Rookie of the Year on Monday, narrowly beating out his Duke teammate Kon Knueppel in one of the tightest races of all time.

The Dallas Mavericks rookie beat the Charlotte Hornets rookie by a total of 26 points amongst 100 media members who voted. Flagg received 56 first-place votes, and Knueppel receiving 44 first-place votes.

Flagg became the second youngest player ever to win the award at 19 years of age, only behind LeBron James.

“I see the games every night. I can check the box scores,” Flagg said when he was asked about his Duke roommate Knueppel. “I think also I was watching Kon just because that’s one of my brothers,” he added.

“We had such a good connection, and we’re gonna be there for each other for the rest of our lives. I was watching him as a fan, as well, but there was obviously that competition at the same time.”

The 26-point gap is the second closest margin ever in this award’s current voting history, with only the 2021-22 race being tighter between Scottie Barnes and Evan Mobley, which was a 15-point gap.

Flagg averaged an impressive 21.0/6.7/4.5 in his rookie campaign, numbers only Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, and Luka Doncic put up during their rookie seasons.

Knueppel, on the other hand, averaged 18.5/5.3/3.5 while leading the NBA in three-pointers made and breaking the rookie three-point record with 273 threes made.

The argument for Knueppel was that he was playing more meaningful minutes with the Hornets, finishing 44-38 and narrowly missing the playoffs.

Flagg set the scoring record for a teenager with 49 points on January 29 against the Knueppel and the Hornets despite losing the game.

2025 can be considered a season of improvement for the rebuilding White Sox, who finished 60-102. While this is not a good record, it was a big deal because they finished with the worst record in recent memory in 2024 – the White Sox finished 41-121. Chicago went on a 21-game losing streak in the 2024 season, tying the 1988 Baltimore Orioles for the MLB record for the longest losing streak.

Despite the improvement in the record, the offense batted .232 overall, and the pitching staff recorded a 4.26 ERA. These stats weren’t great, but they were an improvement over 2024 — the White Sox batted .221 and recorded a 4.67 ERA that season. 2025’s stats placed Chicago 27th in batting average and 20th in ERA.

Lenyn Sosa led the offense with 137 hits, 22 home runs and 75 RBIs on a .264 batting average. Rookie shortstop Colson Montgomery maintained a .239 batting average and hit 21 home runs in his first major league season. Shane Smith pitched over 146 innings, surrendering 70 runs and striking out 145 batters on a 3.81 ERA.

The biggest transaction of the team’s offseason was Munetaka Murakami’s two-year deal. Murakami came to the Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) Tokyo Yakult Swallows after spending seven seasons with the team. The Kumamoto, Japan native won the Central League MVP award twice, a Triple Crown and was named an NPB all-star four times. Murakami also contributed to Japan’s 2023 World Baseball Classic win — he hit a walk-off two-run double to defeat Mexico in the Semifinals and hit a home run off Team USA pitcher Merrill Kelly to help Team Japan win the championship.

In November, Carlos Rodriguez was named assistant general manager, and Jose Leger was hired as the first-base and outfield coach.

Luis Robert Jr. was traded to the New York Mets in January in exchange for prospects Luisangel Acuña and Truman Pauley. Pitcher Seranthony Domínguez signed a two-year deal on January 29th, while Ex-Orioles outfielder Austin Hays signed a one-year contract on February 4th – Erick Fedde signed prior to spring training.

One can’t expect much from this roster heading into 2026, as the rebuild is still ongoing. There is optimism if the team’s stats continue to improve on both sides and if Murakami and Montgomery rise up to the occasion. The White Sox added pieces that could help them become competitive in each game and aid their future outlook; however, the team is still far from the top.

DraftKings lists the White Sox at +2200 to make the playoffs and +40000 to win the World Series.

Minnesota Timberwolves shooting guard Anthony Edwards will be out multiple weeks after suffering a bone bruise and a hyperextended knee against the Denver Nuggets in Game 4 of the first round.

Donte DiVincenzo also got hurt in Game 4, suffering a torn Achilles tendon. Despite this, the Timberwolves won 112-96.

Ayo Dosunmu stepped up after the injuries to Edwards and Divincenzo. He scored a career high of 43 points off the bench. Naz Reid also provided a spark off the bench with 17 points.

Through the first half, Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray played very well for the Nuggets. Jokic had 14 points on 58% shooting, and Murray had 13 points on 46% shooting. In the second half, both shot under 40%. Jokic only hit one shot in 10 attempts.

Christian Braun and Cam Johnson both found ways to be productive. However, they aren’t the stars of the Nuggets. When Jokic and Murray struggle, it’s hard for the Nuggets to win, even if other players step up.

Edwards’ injury could’ve changed the game for the Timberwolves, but they may have already been prepared for the possibility of Edwards getting injured. Before this game, the Timberwolves said that Edwards was dealing with a runner’s knee. Runner’s knee happens when the knee is overused. It causes pain around and behind the kneecap.

There are very few examples in NBA history of players getting runner’s knees. This could be due to the older generation’s slower pace or to sports science’s inability to track injuries as well. However, Stephen Curry has also dealt with runner’s knee this season. He missed several weeks after an MRI on his knee in February revealed the knee problem.

With Edwards and DiVincenzo out, Dosunmu will likely become a starter. He started 19 games this season, including nine with the Timberwolves.

The New York Mets continue to struggle after getting swept by the Colorado Rockies.

The Mets had won two straight games heading into the series with the Rockies, after losing 12 straight games. This means the Mets are 2-15 in their last 17 games, with an overall record of 9-19.

The Mets played a doubleheader on April 26 after the game scheduled for the day before got rained out. The Mets lost the first game of the series on April 24, 4-3.

Nolan McLean started the first game of the doubleheader. He only gave up one earned run in five innings. Despite this, he took the loss because Rockies starter Jose Quintana also allowed only one run. The Mets’ bullpen gave up one run, while the Rockies’ bullpen gave up no runs.

Jake McCarthy had two hits and an RBI for the Rockies. Tyrone Taylor had a hit and drove in the Mets’ only run.

Kodei Senga started the second game of the doubleheader. The Rockies scored three runs off him in 2 2/3 innings. Although the Mets bullpen didn’t give up any runs, the Rockies got a seven-inning shutout from starter Chase Dollander to get the win.

The Rockies only had four hits, with three of them coming off Senga. However, Hunter Goodman’s two-run home run extended the Rockies’ lead to 3-0. The Mets outhit the Rockies six to four, but they couldn’t score any runs. Carson Benge had two of the Mets’ six hits.

Very little has gone right for the Mets this season. Their one bright spot has been starter Clay Holmes. The two-time All-Star has a 2.10 ERA in five starts. The Mets moved him to the starting rotation in 2025.

The Mets will play the Washington Nationals in their next series starting April 28.

Quarterback Diego Pavia received an invite to the Baltimore Ravens minicamp.

The Vanderbilt alumnus went undrafted in the 2026 NFL Draft. UConn QB Joe Fagnano also received an invite to the minicamp.

Pavia had 29 touchdowns and eight interceptions in his senior season for Vanderbilt. He finished second in Heisman voting behind Fernando Mendoza. While Mendoza got the glory of being the No. 1 overall pick, Pavia was left without a draft selection.

Originally, Pavia didn’t see pro football as a career path. He went to the New Mexico Military Institute out of high school. However, after playing football there, he realized his potential. He transferred to New Mexico State before the 2022 season. He threw 26 touchdowns and nine interceptions in his second season at New Mexico State before transferring to Vanderbilt.

This is why Pavia entered the draft as a 24-year-old. He’s older than most of the other draft prospects. However, Ty Simpson was drafted in the first round and is only a year younger.

However, Pavia had another factor that dropped his draft stock. He is just 5-foot-10. This ties him with Kyler Murray and Bryce Young as the shortest QB in the league. However, Murray and Young were both 22 during their rookie seasons.

There were some character questions with Pavia. After the Heisman voting was released, Pavia posted “f— the voters” on social media. He apologized for this post later. Although it’s unclear if this impacted his draft stock, many teams do consider professionalism and sportsmanship when drafting, particularly for late-round picks, who are less likely to play early on.

All of these factors likely played a role in Pavia going undrafted. Despite being undrafted, he showed enough talent to earn a chance with the Ravens.

Lamar Jackson is the obvious starter, but Pavia could compete with Tyler Huntley for the backup spot.

Rapper and reality TV personality Chrisean Rock won her professional boxing debut with a split decision victory over Zenith Zion on April 25 in Philadelphia.

Rock fought under her birth name, Chrisean Malone. Judges scored the fight 29-28 and 29-27 in favor of Rock, with one judge awarding a 29-28 decision to Zion. This was the professional debut for both boxers.

In the opening round, Rock landed a clean right-hand hit on Zion for the knockdown. After that, the fight became extremely competitive.

In the final round, Zion landed a good hit on Rock, which caused her to drop. The scorekeepers were unsure whether to consider it a knockdown or a slip. Regardless, Rock recovered well and landed several hits.

Rock received significant support from fans on social media. The event marked her first step into boxing after building a following in music and television. She quickly won over boxing fans in attendance and on social media.

Rock’s PR team confirmed this fight isn’t a one-off thing. She plans to fully commit to boxing in the near future.

The battle was part of a crossover boxing event that drew attention for blending entertainment and combat sports, a growing trend that has attracted musicians, influencers and former athletes.

It was announced that the event had a “full house.” The atmosphere remained energetic throughout the night, particularly during the final round as momentum swung between the two.

The win positions Rock for potential future fights in the growing crossover boxing scene, while Zion also gained attention for her performance in her debut.

While neither fighter has announced their next bout, the competitive nature of the matchup could lead to a rematch. Close decisions in debut fights often generate interest, especially when both competitors show flashes of promise early in their careers.

In 2023, Rock made headlines when she gave birth to her son live on Instagram.

The Dallas Cowboys have made Brandon Aubrey the highest-paid kicker in the NFL.

Aubrey signed a four-year, $28 million extension with the Cowboys. He will make $20 million guaranteed.

Despite becoming one of the best kickers in the NFL, football wasn’t his first sport. In college, he played soccer for Notre Dame.

Aubrey was drafted with the No. 21 overall pick by Toronto FC in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft. He played for Toronto FC II, their reserve team, in 2017. After a brief stint with Bethlehem Steel FC, he retired from soccer.

After retiring from soccer, Aubrey became a software engineer. He has a degree in computer science from Notre Dame.

Aubrey was watching a football game with his wife when a kicker missed a kick. His wife told him she thinks he’d be able to do better, which made Aubrey interested in a football career.

The Birmingham Stallions of the USFL drafted him in 2022. He was the league leader in field goals and extra points made in 2022.

After two seasons with the Stallions, Aubrey garnered NFL interest. He requested to be released so he could sign with an NFL team. He settled on the Cowboys.

Aubrey has made the Pro Bowl and an All-Pro team in each of his three seasons with the Cowboys.

Earlier this offseason, the Cowboys gave Aubrey a tender contract. This is a one-year, $8 million contract. This contract alone would’ve made him the highest-paid kicker in the NFL in 2026.

Aubrey reportedly wanted $10 million a season from the Cowboys. Although his contract is below $10 million a season, his guaranteed money is still far greater than the tender contract.

The NFL Draft is on April 23. The Cowboys hold two first-round picks. They will look to improve their offense and secondary.

The Undisputed WWE Champion, Cody Rhodes, defended his title successfully one night at Wrestlemania 42 against Randy Orton, but he suffered a nasty eye injury in the middle of the match.

Rhodes’ eye was almost completely swollen shut, and WWE confirmed that the champ suffered an orbital injury.

Fans saw Rhodes at a meet-and-greet on Sunday following his brutal match with Orton, and the damage was clear and very real.

Orton attacked Rhodes following the match, hitting him in the head with his belt and then delivering his signature punt, leaving a bloodied Rhodes lying in the ring.

There is no timetable for Rhodes’ return to the ring, according to WWE officials.

“Afterward, Rhodes needed three sutures to the face and four staples to the back of the head,” Jackie Redmond reported before Night Two.

“As for the Punt that you just showed from Randy Orton, the impact to Cody’s orbital socket was so severe that his eye is still completely shut. So again, Rhodes is not medically cleared, and his timetable to return is up in the air.”

Rhodes picked up his fourth Wrestlemania victory along with his fourth Wrestlemania main event.

The Chicago Cubs and Los Angeles Dodgers faced off in Los Angeles, and Cubs manager Craig Counsell was talking about the upcoming series against the defending champions.

Counsell told reporters that he has “never understood” the two-way rule for global sensation Shohei Ohtani, claiming that it is an “offensive rule” made to benefit the Dodgers.

“It’s an offensive rule, essentially. It’s a rule to help offense, more than anything, if you ask me. And then there’s one team that’s allowed to carry basically one of both, and he gets special consideration, which is probably the most bizarre rule. For one team.”

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts fired back at Counsell, saying, “The thing is, it certainly benefits us because we have the player. We’re more than willing for other teams to go out and find a player who can do both. He’s an exception because he’s an exceptional player. It is what it is.”

The rules to qualify as a two-way player require a player to pitch at least 20 innings as a starter or reliever and to start 20 games as a position player or DH, with at least 3 plate appearances in those games.

Ohtani did just that last season, earning him the label of a “two-way” player on the roster.

This seems to be a bizarre gripe from Counsell, as the rule was introduced in 2020, when Ohtani was with the Los Angeles Angels.

However, the one actual problem that would make sense for Counsell to have is that the MLB quietly changed the rule in 2024, making it so the player would only have to meet the criteria in the two previous seasons rather than one, which allowed Ohtani to be labeled as a “two-way” player despite his elbow surgery. This allowed the Dodgers way more roster flexibility than other teams.

The Dodgers hold the best record in baseball at 16-6, while the Cubs stand at 13-9. The managers of these two teams are already providing fireworks in what will be a fiery series at Dodger Stadium this weekend.

2026 isn’t being friendly to the Red Sox thus far. After sitting in last place in the AL East with a 10-17 record, the team fired manager Alex Cora and five others Saturday.

Bench coach Ramón Vázquez, hitting coach Peter Fatse, third-base coach Kyle Hudson, assistant hitting coach Dillon Lawson and hitting strategy coach Joe Cronin were the other five staff members dismissed.

Chad Tracy became interim manager following Cora’s dismissal, while Chad Epperson was named interim third-base coach.

“I want to thank Alex, our coaches and their families for everything they have given to this organization,” owner John Henry remarked in a statement. “They have been part of this club in a way that goes beyond the field, and they will always have our respect and gratitude.”

In his tenure, Cora posted a 620-541 record; he posted an 18-10 record in the postseason.

Cora was hired in 2018 after spending a season with the Astros as their bench coach. In his first season, Boston won 108 games and their ninth World Series title. Cora resigned in 2019 after it was revealed he was involved in the Astros’ sign-stealing scandal; he was also suspended for the 2020 season. Boston rehired Cora after his reinstatement expired, resulting in an ALCS appearance in 2021. The Red Sox made the Wild Card last season despite losing Rafael Devers via trade.

Tracy is tasked with managing an underwhelming roster; ace Garrett Crochet has a 5.31 ERA in 127 innings, while Trevor Story has a .198 batting average in 111 at-bats. The struggles continue as Jarren Duran has a .189 batting average, while Caleb Durbin has a .169 batting average.

Time would tell whether this move will pay off, but the Red Sox need to focus on stringing up wins to get out of their early-season slump.

All-star center Nikola Jokic made headlines after getting into a heated altercation with Minnesota Timberwolves forward Jaden McDaniels.

With two seconds remaining in Game 4, McDaniels made an uncontested layup to make the score 112-96. This caused Jokic to rush toward McDaniels to confront him about the layup. Things turned south quickly after the Minnesota forward grabbed Jokic’s jersey, leading to an altercation between the two. The benches of both teams were also involved to break up the fight.

Jokic and Julius Randle were both ejected following the fight.

The Nuggets center didn’t regret his actions after Saturday’s game. “I don’t regret it,” Jokic remarked. “Because he scored after everybody stopped playing.” Nuggets coach David Adelman shared a similar viewpoint to his star center. “The game was over,” Adelman told reporters. “The game was conceded both ways. In 2026, that stuff just doesn’t happen anymore. That stuff happened in the 80s, where teams would continue to score.”

According to NBA rules, players who leave the bench are subject to an automatic suspension of at least one game. This gives the commissioner the final say in potential punishments.

McDaniels wasn’t ejected after the altercation, but he had a different perspective about what happened. “I don’t know what [Jokic] said, to be honest,” said McDaniels. “I just seen someone who was big as hell.” The forward also remarked that he would score if the clock was still running.

“I’m proud of the guys stepping up and fighting for each other, literally and figuratively,” said Timberwolves coach Chris Finch. “I mean, you play each other this many times when things are at stake, it’s just how it goes.”

Jokic dropped 24 points and grabbed 15 rebounds Saturday, while McDaniels scored 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Saturday’s victory puts Minnesota up 3-1 in the series, further putting them in a prime position to win the series if they win Game 5 Monday night.
