The Detroit Pistons defeated the Orlando Magic in Game 7 of the first round to move on to the second round of the NBA playoffs.

The Pistons successfully completed a 3-1 series comeback with their Game 7 win. The Pistons scored 40 points in the second quarter to have a double-digit lead at halftime.

Cade Cunningham had a strong game with 32 points and 12 assists. Cunningham was playing well even when the Pistons fell down 3-1. Cunningham is averaging 32.4 points per game in the playoffs, making him the leading scorer in the playoffs so far.

However, the Pistons couldn’t have won without Tobias Harris. Harris scored 30 points and secured nine rebounds. Harris averaged 21.6 points per game in the first round series. Harris signed a two-year, $52 million contract with the Pistons in the 2024 offseason. Some analysts thought this contract was an overpay, but Harris’ shooting and veteran leadership have been valuable for the Pistons.

Paolo Banchero kept the Magic in the game with 36 points, including 15 in the second half. Banchero averaged 26.3 points per game in the first round series. Desmond Bane also had a solid game with 16 points and three 3-pointers made.

Franz Wagner missed the final three games of the series with a right calf strain. He was averaging 17 points per game before his injury. Injuries have unfortunately been a consistent issue for Wagner the past two seasons. He played 60 games last season and just 34 this season.

The Pistons will start their second-round series against the Cleveland Cavaliers on May 5. The Pistons split the season series with the Cavaliers 2-2.

The Pistons only played one game against the Cavaliers after Cleveland acquired James Harden. Harden scored 18 points against them on March 3 to lead the Cavaliers to a 113-109 win.

ESPN’s Inside the NBA featured New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel and former The Athletic reporter Dianna Russini in a graphic after the Boston Celtics were eliminated by the Philadelphia 76ers.

The graphic was captioned “Gone fishing” and featured Celtics stars Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. However, it also showed Vrabel and Russini recreating the “I’m the king of the world” scene from Titanic.

Inside the NBA joined the ESPN lineup after airing on TNT since 1989. They’ve made graphics like these for many years.

The Inside the NBA crew didn’t acknowledge that Vrabel and Russini were in the graphic on the show.

On April 7, Page Six published seven photos of Vrabel and Russini at the Ambiente Sedona hotel in Arizona. The leaked photos showed them hugging and holding hands. Vrabel was interviewed by the New York Post later that day and was asked about the photos.

“These photos show a completely innocent interaction and any suggestion otherwise is laughable,” Vrabel said. “This doesn’t deserve any further response.”

Russini initially defended her actions, saying she was with a group of six people and that it’s common for sports journalists and team members to spend time together during the offseason.

Later that week, The New York Times, owner of The Athletic, said it launched an investigation into the incident. Russini resigned from The Athletic a few days later.

In late April, The New York Post released new photos of Vrabel and Russini. Although it’s not confirmed when the photos were taken, The New York Post estimated they were taken six years ago.

If The New York Post is correct about the timeline, this photo was taken approximately six months before Russini became engaged.

Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss secured a sixth season of college eligibility after several appeals.

In November 2025, Ole Miss filed a waiver request with the NCAA. Ole Miss argued that since he couldn’t play his sophomore season at Ferris State due to respiratory issues, he should be granted extra eligibility.

The NCAA denied this request on Jan. 9, 2026. Ole Miss filed an appeal, which was also denied. However, Chambliss sued the NCAA in Mississippi state court.

The judge ruled in favor of Chambliss, ultimately granting him an extra year of eligibility. Judge Robert Whitwell said in his decision that the NCAA ignored the medical records that Chambliss and Ole Miss submitted.

Chambliss testified in the hearing. He told the judge that his coach at Ferris State told him he could get a medical exemption.

Former New York Giants head coach and current Ole Miss assistant coach Joe Judge also testified. He told the judge that Chambliss’ draft stock could be hurt if he didn’t play college football in 2026.

Chambliss is coming off a season in which he threw 22 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He led the conference in passing yards with 3,937. He finished eighth in Heisman voting.

Chambliss will be 24 during the 2026 season. This will make him one of the oldest players in college football. This also means he’ll be 25 by the 2027 NFL season. Heisman runner-up Diego Pavia saw his draft stock plummet because he was 24. However, Chambliss has the advantage of an NFL-ready physique.

Ole Miss will start the season on Sept. 6 against Louisville. This will be the first full season for Pete Golding as head coach. Golding coached Ole Miss’s last three games after Lane Kiffin left to become the head coach at LSU.

Steelers' Drew Allar

Former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger said he was underwhelmed by Drew Allar.

“I didn’t watch a lot of Penn State games,” Roethlisberger said on his Footbahlin podcast. “When I did watch, he never jumped off the page to me. Is he big, can he move, can he throw? Yeah, but there was never a time where I was like, ‘Whoa’. So, we’ll see about that one.”

Despite his hesitancy about Allar, Roethlisberger was a fan of other Steelers draft picks. He praised first-round draft pick Germie Bernard, Day 2 selections Daylen Everett and Gennings Dunker and seventh-round pick Eli Heidenreich.

Heidenreich is a former high school champion from the Pittsburgh suburbs. One can imagine the praise from the Steelers’ former player means a lot to him.

Roethlisberger wasn’t alone in his doubts about Allar. Many scouts thought his field processing and footwork were far behind what is needed at the NFL level.

Despite this, the Steelers still drafted him in the third round. Scouts saw some upside in him due to his natural throwing abilities and decision-making.

Allar threw eight touchdowns and three interceptions in six games in 2025. His season ended after he broke his left ankle. Allar did not participate in the NFL Scouting Combine. However, he did throw on the field for scouts.

The Steelers already have veteran Mason Rudolph and 2025 sixth-round pick Will Howard on the roster. Despite Howard being drafted much later, Roethlisberger is more impressed with Howard’s tape than Allar’s.

They are also waiting on a decision from veteran Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers was the Steelers’ starter last season and threw 24 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Although Roethlisberger hasn’t talked with Rodgers, he believes Rodgers will want to play another season.

Former Colorado safety Shilo Sanders made a sexist comment towards Cleveland Browns reporter Mary Kay Cabot.

Sanders is the brother of Browns backup quarterback Shedeur Sanders. Shilo played with his brother in Colorado, but went undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Cabot was covering the training camp positional battle between Shedeur and former Pro Bowl selection Deshaun Watson. Cabot said that she believes the Browns should name Watson the starter, but Shilo didn’t like her take.

“Go make a sandwich, Mary,” Shilo wrote in a social media comment.

Although many fans found the remarks hurtful, Cabot didn’t back down.

“I know so many women who have joined the football world, especially because of some of the things I’ve been able to do over the years. I’m happy about that,” Cabot said.

Meanwhile, Shilo doubled down on his comment. On a livestream on Twitch, Shilo said that he didn’t like Cabot’s reporting and feels as if she has a “personal vendetta” with his brother.

Shedeur threw seven touchdowns and 10 interceptions in eight games. His best game was against the Tennessee Titans in Week 14 when he threw three touchdowns and one interception. Many Browns fans, including Shilo, believe he showed enough potential to be the starter in 2026.

Meanwhile, many analysts believe that Watson should get the starting spot. Watson missed the 2025 season with a torn Achilles. He tore his Achilles while recovering from a torn Achilles.

In his last season in 2024, Watson threw five touchdowns and three interceptions in seven games. The Browns went 1-6 in his starts.

In 2020, he led the league in passing yards with 4,823. The Houston Texans traded him to the Browns two seasons later.

After an extremely disappointing end to the year for the Denver Nuggets and three-time MVP Nikola Jokic, they head into an off-season of unknowns.

Following a game six and series loss to the short-handed Minnesota Timberwolves, Jokic reiterated to the media that he still wants “to be a Nugget forever.”

Jokic, 31, has two years remaining on his contract worth $121.9 million. He has a player option he could exercise following the 2027 season.

The Nuggets’ franchise superstar will be eligible for a supermax extension, which would be for four years and nearly $278 million. The Nuggets will almost surely offer him that supermax, but it is up to Jokic whether his words stay true.

Jokic is not pleased with how the Nuggets’ season went, with the team showing inconsistency throughout the year and battling injuries.

“We just lost in the first round,” Jokic said following the loss. “I think we are far away [from title contention].”

The Nuggets are three years removed from winning the NBA Championship and have failed to return, which is something they need to prioritize during Jokic’s prime years.

With Aaron Gordon going down with an injury, his future with the Nuggets is uncertain, along with All-Star point guard Jamal Murray, who is being paid a ton of money.

The Nuggets front office could elect to shake things up entirely and build a completely new team around Jokic, but moving Murray remains highly unlikely.

More details about former Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora’s recent firing have been released.

MassLive obtained emails and texts from Cora after being fired. They also reported that Cora was called about replacing Rob Thomson as the Philadelphia Phillies manager, but he declined.

Cora texted several reporters that he was happy about being fired. They also obtained an email that Cora sent to every member of the Red Sox organization.

“We are happy to have the time to be full-time parents, that’s the truth, but also we are disappointed that we didn’t finish the job. I respect the direction the organization is taking. A lot of talented people will help accomplish the ultimate goal: another duck boat parade. Thank you for the hard work, sleepless nights, professionalism and effort to help me lead this great organization,” Cora said.

Cora was part of a massive restructuring for the Red Sox. Hitting coach Pete Fatse, third-base coach Kyle Hudson, bench coach Ramon Vazquez, assistant hitting coach Dillon Lawson and hitting strategy coach Joe Cronin were also fired. Game planning coach and former Red Sox captain Jason Varitek was reassigned to a different role.

The Red Sox rank in the bottom 10 in the league in offense. Their one bright spot on offense this season has been Wilyer Abreu, who has a 142 OPS+ this season.

Their pitching has been better, but still not great. The league-average ERA is 4.50, while the Red Sox team ERA is 4.48. Garrett Crochet has been disappointing so far this season with a 6.30 ERA. Aroldis Chapman has been the bright spot so far with a 1.04 ERA and five saves.

Minor league manager Chad Tracy has been named the Red Sox’s interim manager. Tracy hit 86 home runs in the major leagues.

One month through the season, Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Jose Soriano has looked like the best pitcher in baseball.

Soriano was named the Angels’ Opening Day starter, their third different opening day starter since losing Shohei Ohtani in free agency. Despite this, Soriano didn’t have high expectations entering the season.

In 2025, Soriano had a 4.26 ERA in 31 starts. His one bright spot was the lack of home runs he gave up. He gave up just 12 home runs in 2025, the lowest rate among qualifying starters.

Soriano has always been able to throw hard, with an average fastball of 97 miles per hour. However, he allowed too many base runners. In 2025, he allowed eight hits per nine and four walks per nine.

This season, he’s changed his strategy on the mound. He uses his fastball more while using his sinker less. This has helped him throw more strikes, reducing his walks per nine from four to three.

More importantly, it’s made him harder to hit. He has just four hits per nine, the best hits per nine in the American League. The increased reliance on his fastball has led to his strikeout percentage rising from 21% in 2025 to 30% in 2026. The more selective use of his sinker has caused hitters to be under his pitches more. In 2025, only 8.6% of contact off Soriano was considered under. In 2026, that number has risen to 18%.

The Angels have a 12-17 record this season. However, they have a 6-0 record when Soriano starts, including Soriano getting the win in five of those starts.

Despite the Angels’ struggles, they’ve had good performances from many players. Soriano has a 0.24 ERA, Mike Trout has a .961 OPS, Zach Neto has a .360 on-base percentage, and Oswald Peraza has a .280 batting average.

The Arizona Cardinals drafted quarterback Carson Beck in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft.

The Cardinals are trying to figure out the future of the QB position after releasing Kyler Murray earlier this offseason. Beck was once considered the best QB prospect of this draft class, but he was surpassed by Fernando Mendoza and Ty Simpson.

Beck threw for 3,813 yards and 30 touchdowns with Miami last season. Beck was considered one of the most accurate passers in college football, leading the nation in completion percentage. However, Beck sometimes had trouble dealing with pressure. He threw 12 interceptions in each of his final two seasons of college.

NFL scouts praised his ball placement abilities, but questioned his decision-making. The decision-making questions led him to fall to the third round.

The Cardinals’ first-round selection of Jeremiyah Love drew mixed reception from analysts. Some thought that the talent of Love could add a spark to the Cardinals’ offense, while others thought the Cardinals had more pressing matters to attend to. Love is expected to sign a four-year, $50 million contract with the Cardinals, which will make him the highest-paid running back in the league.

The rest of the Cardinals’ draft picks generally got praised by analysts. Outside of Beck, they also drafted offensive guard Chase Bisontis, defensive tackle Kaleb Proctor, wide receiver Reggie Virgil, linebacker Karson Sharar and offensive tackle Jayden Williams. NFL analyst Chad Reuter praised the Cardinals’ selection of Beck.

“Despite his lukewarm film over the past two seasons, he has the physical attributes to be an NFL starter,” Reuter said.

Despite releasing Murray, the Cardinals kept veteran QB Jacoby Brissett. They also signed Gardner Minshew earlier this offseason. Beck will need to prove he’s better than these two veteran QBs if he wants to start this season.

Rapper and reality TV personality Chrisean Rock won her professional boxing debut with a split decision victory over Zenith Zion on April 25 in Philadelphia.

Rock fought under her birth name, Chrisean Malone. Judges scored the fight 29-28 and 29-27 in favor of Rock, with one judge awarding a 29-28 decision to Zion. This was the professional debut for both boxers.

In the opening round, Rock landed a clean right-hand hit on Zion for the knockdown. After that, the fight became extremely competitive.

In the final round, Zion landed a good hit on Rock, which caused her to drop. The scorekeepers were unsure whether to consider it a knockdown or a slip. Regardless, Rock recovered well and landed several hits.

Rock received significant support from fans on social media. The event marked her first step into boxing after building a following in music and television. She quickly won over boxing fans in attendance and on social media.

Rock’s PR team confirmed this fight isn’t a one-off thing. She plans to fully commit to boxing in the near future.

The battle was part of a crossover boxing event that drew attention for blending entertainment and combat sports, a growing trend that has attracted musicians, influencers and former athletes.

It was announced that the event had a “full house.” The atmosphere remained energetic throughout the night, particularly during the final round as momentum swung between the two.

The win positions Rock for potential future fights in the growing crossover boxing scene, while Zion also gained attention for her performance in her debut.

While neither fighter has announced their next bout, the competitive nature of the matchup could lead to a rematch. Close decisions in debut fights often generate interest, especially when both competitors show flashes of promise early in their careers.

In 2023, Rock made headlines when she gave birth to her son live on Instagram.

All-star center Nikola Jokic made headlines after getting into a heated altercation with Minnesota Timberwolves forward Jaden McDaniels.

With two seconds remaining in Game 4, McDaniels made an uncontested layup to make the score 112-96. This caused Jokic to rush toward McDaniels to confront him about the layup. Things turned south quickly after the Minnesota forward grabbed Jokic’s jersey, leading to an altercation between the two. The benches of both teams were also involved to break up the fight.

Jokic and Julius Randle were both ejected following the fight.

The Nuggets center didn’t regret his actions after Saturday’s game. “I don’t regret it,” Jokic remarked. “Because he scored after everybody stopped playing.” Nuggets coach David Adelman shared a similar viewpoint to his star center. “The game was over,” Adelman told reporters. “The game was conceded both ways. In 2026, that stuff just doesn’t happen anymore. That stuff happened in the 80s, where teams would continue to score.”

According to NBA rules, players who leave the bench are subject to an automatic suspension of at least one game. This gives the commissioner the final say in potential punishments.

McDaniels wasn’t ejected after the altercation, but he had a different perspective about what happened. “I don’t know what [Jokic] said, to be honest,” said McDaniels. “I just seen someone who was big as hell.” The forward also remarked that he would score if the clock was still running.

“I’m proud of the guys stepping up and fighting for each other, literally and figuratively,” said Timberwolves coach Chris Finch. “I mean, you play each other this many times when things are at stake, it’s just how it goes.”

Jokic dropped 24 points and grabbed 15 rebounds Saturday, while McDaniels scored 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Saturday’s victory puts Minnesota up 3-1 in the series, further putting them in a prime position to win the series if they win Game 5 Monday night.

Heisman trophy winner Fernando Mendoza can finally call himself a Las Vegas Raider after being selected with the first overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

“What a great organization, great legacy,” Mendoza said after hearing his name called. “There’s so many teammates I’m looking forward to talking to – coaches, owners. I’m ecstatic for the opportunity.”

Mendoza becomes the first quarterback that the Raiders have drafted in the first round since they drafted JaMarcus Russell with the first pick in 2007. The Raiders are hopeful that Mendoza will be more successful than Russell was, despite being labeled one of the biggest busts in NFL history.

The Raiders are hoping Mendoza can back up veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins in the upcoming season as he learns and prepares for when he is given the keys to the franchise.

It was no secret where Mendoza was headed following a 3-14 year with the Raiders, firing Pete Carroll, and moving on from Geno Smith after one season. Mendoza will be coached by first-time head coach Klint Kubiak, who is coming off a Super Bowl title after being the play-caller for the Seattle Seahawks.

“Whatever team was going to select me would be a good fit, but deep down, in my heart I knew the Raiders are most likely going to be the best fit because of the coaching staff,” Mendoza said. “I think it really fits my play style great.”

The Raiders have more work to do on day two of the NFL draft and should be looking to pair Mendoza with a wide receiver.

Mendoza had one of the greatest years ever for a quarterback, winning the Heisman Trophy and the National Championship and being selected with the first overall pick, joining Joe Burrow and Cam Newton as the only quarterbacks to accomplish this feat.

The San Diego Padres are in the middle of a sale, and all bidders have been asked to complete their second rounds of bidding, submitting new offers that include at least three bids of $3.5 billion or more. According to two people, one of the bids is approaching $4 billion.

There are four finalists in the midst of a bidding war for the Padres franchise, including José E. Feliciano and his wifeKwanza Jones; Dan Friedkin; and Joe Lacob and Tom Gores.

Feliciano is the co-founder of the investment firm Clearlake Capital and has a net worth of $4.4 billion as of April 2025.

Friedkin is the chairman and CEO of The Friedkin Group, and his Pursuit Sports owns the soccer clubs Everton and AS Roma.

Lacob is an American business executive who was a partner at Kleiner Perkins and is currently the co-owner of the Golden State Warriors and Golden State Valkyries.

Gore is the owner of the Detroit Pistons and also owns a 27% stake in the Los Angeles Chargers, which he purchased in 2024.

The Padres are valued at $3.1 billion according to Sportico’s most recent MLB valuations. That is up 34% from last year, and it seems as if the bidding will surpass that number.

When the sale is finalized, it will be the largest sale of an MLB franchise in history, surpassing Steve Cohen’s $2.42 billion purchase of the New York Mets in 2020.

Roman Reigns and Rhea Ripley were crowned champions after WrestleMania 42.

Reigns fought in the main event against CM Punk. Their match lasted 33 minutes. Ultimately, Reigns was able to outlast him. Reigns became a WWE champion for the fourth time in his career. He holds the record for the longest championship reign with a 1,316-day reign.

Toward the end of his last reign, he didn’t do as many title defenses. Most WWE experts expect him to keep his title until WrestleMania 43.

One wrestler who could challenge Reigns is Oba Femi. Femi defeated multiple-time champion Brock Lesnar in an earlier day-two event. WWE announcer Michael Cole proclaimed Femi as “the next big thing.”

Meanwhile, Ripley dethroned Jade Cargill and ended Cargill’s 169-day reign.

Ripley entered WrestleMania with an impressive resume. She was a two-time Tag Team champion, a women’s Triple Crown champion and a women’s Grand Slam champion. Despite this, this is her first undisputed WWE championship.

Despite this loss, Cargill is expected to still be in the hunt for a championship. There’s currently no rematch scheduled with Ripley, but it’s always a possibility. Cargill could also compete in the tag team event again.

There are also reports that Cargill could join the Raw roster. WWE Raw focuses on storylines. The Raw Show airs every Monday on Netflix.

Ripley is expected to face many competitors for the WWE title. Tiffany Stratton, Jordynne Grace, Chelsea Green and Cargill are all possible competitors for Ripley.

Stratton was eliminated by Ripley in the Elimination Chamber earlier this year. Ripley winning the Elimination Chamber secured her spot in WrestleMania 42.

Despite this, Stratton still put up a good performance. Stratton defeated Kiana James in their match.

Stratton forced James to the ground. James lay on the ground for several seconds. While on the ground, her bra slipped, partially exposing her nipple. The camera did not turn away or black out while James was on the ground.

Dianna Russini’s departure from The Athletic has caused tension between The Athletic’s leadership and the staff of its parent company, The New York Times.

Page Six originally posted photos of Russini with New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel on April 7. The two were seen holding hands and hugging at the Ambiente Sedona hotel in Arizona.

The Athletic originally defended Russini.

“These photos are misleading and lack essential context,” Steven Ginsberg, executive editor of The Athletic, said in a statement. “These were public interactions in front of many people. Dianna is a premier journalist covering the NFL, and we’re proud to have her at The Athletic.”

Despite this, The New York Times launched a formal investigation into the photos on April 11. Two days later, Russini announced that she would be stepping away from her job at The Athletic.

“When the Page Six item first appeared, The Athletic supported me unequivocally, expressed confidence in my work and pride in my journalism. For that I am grateful,” Russini said.

Page Six interviewed an anonymous source from The New York Times. The source was unhappy with how The Athletic handled the news initially.

“It was really embarrassing for the Times,” said one insider, who told us that after the story broke, it was a major talking point on various desks across the Times newsroom. “It raised a lot of concerns because it’s something that should be taken seriously and [the statement] made it seem as if they didn’t think it warranted investigation.”

Ginsberg revealed that The Athletic was also investigating the photos. However, he said the publication’s instinct was to defend its writer.

He also said the investigation will continue even after Russini leaves The Athletic. He considers journalistic integrity an important part of The Athletic’s mission.

Kawhi Leonard declined to talk about his future with the Los Angeles Clippers after they were eliminated by the Golden State Warriors in the play-in game.

The Warriors defeated the Clippers 126-121. Reporters asked whether Leonard plans to stay with the Clippers after this season, but he declined to answer.

“Let me cry about this loss a little bit more,” Leonard said.

Leonard scored 21 points in the loss. Benedict Mathurin led the Clippers in scoring with 23 points. Darius Garland also scored 21, while shooting better than Leonard from the field.

In the 2026-27 season, Leonard will be in the last year of his three-year, $149 million extension with the Clippers. He will be 35 at the end of next season.

Leonard joined the Clippers during the 2019 offseason. He signed with the Clippers after they made a massive trade to get Paul George from the Oklahoma City Thunder. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was sent to the Thunder for George. George left the Clippers during the 2024 offseason to join the Philadelphia 76ers.

However, Leonard was not left without a star. In the 2023-24 season, the Clippers made a trade for James Harden. Entering this season, the Clippers looked to build around the star duo of Leonard and Harden. However, Harden requested a trade at the deadline and was sent to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

This leaves Leonard on the Clippers without another star. The last time he was unhappy with his situation was with the San Antonio Spurs in 2018. He requested a trade and was sent to the Toronto Raptors

Leonard has not officially requested a trade from the Clippers, but teams like the Golden State Warriors and Miami Heat have already shown interest in trading for him.

The Clippers do not own their first-round pick outright until 2030. Getting draft assets would be a priority.

Jarren Duran stuck his middle finger at a fan in the Boston Red Sox’s April 14 game against the Minnesota Twins.

The Twins defeated the Red Sox 6-0. The incident with Duran happened during the fifth inning. After grounding out, Duran claimed that a fan made a comment that crossed the line.

“Somebody just told me to kill myself,” Duran said. “I’m used to it at this point, you know? I mean, s— happens. I mean, I’m going to flip somebody off if they say something to me, but it is what it is. I shouldn’t react like that, but that kind of stuff is still kind of triggering.”

Duran was part of a Netflix documentary that discussed mental health in athletes. During the documentary, Duran revealed that he’s dealt with severe depression in the past, including a suicide attempt.

Duran went 0 for 4 in the game with a strikeout. The Red Sox only managed six hits in the loss. Masataka Yoshida had two of those hits.

Meanwhile, the Twins had 10 hits in their win. Bryon Buxton had a four-hit game, including two home runs. Buxton has hit all three of his home runs this season against the Red Sox. On April 13, he became the all-time leader for home runs at Target Field.

Twins pitcher Mick Abel was dominant in the Twins’ win. He pitched seven innings while only giving up four hits. He also struck out ten batters. He picked up his first win of the season and lowered his ERA to 3.98.

The Twins’ next series will be against the Cincinnati Reds, while the Red Sox’s next series will be against the Detroit Tigers.

Kai Trump, the granddaughter of President Donald Trump, was at the Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club and snagged a photo with Bryson DeChambeau.

Vanessa Trump, Kai’s mother, is currently dating golf legend Tiger Woods. Woods was absent from the tournament completely, as he is currently in treatment for substance abuse issues.

Kai has taken up golf herself. She is committed to the University of Miami as a member of the incoming freshman class. She has received a full-ride athletic scholarship for golf. Getting a chance to see the Masters Tournament in person is a rare experience for an amateur golfer.

“What a special place,” Kai said.

She posts photos and videos of her golf career on her social media accounts. She has golfed with her grandfather. During their golf trip, she did a question-and-answer session where her fans got to ask the president questions about his life and career.

Although Kai made headlines with her commitment to Miami, she’s not the only amateur golf star who’s starting their college career. Charlie Woods, son of Tiger, committed to Florida State University as part of the incoming freshman class. Coach Trey Jones has led a consistently good program at FSU.

Both Kai and Charlie have had some struggles in their young golf career. Both finished last in their respective most recent golf tournaments. Although some have used this to criticize them, calling them “nepo” babies, it’s important to remember they’re just teenagers. They have pressure on them that most professional golfers will never face, let alone amateurs.

Despite that, plenty of professional golfers faced pressure to try to dethrone Rory McIlroy as the defending Masters Tournament champion. Although McIlroy struggled at first, as he was only up by two after six holes, he led after each round, making it one of the most dominant performances in Masters Tournament history.

Rory McIlroy became the first golfer since Tiger Woods to win back-to-back Masters Tournaments.

It took Mcllroy a decade to win his first masters, which completed his Grand Slam run. A Grand Slam in golf is when a golfer wins the Masters Tournament, PGA Championship, U.S. Open and The Open Championship. He was the sixth golfer to ever accomplish the Grand Slam. Now, just a year later, he won another masters tournament.

“I thought it was so difficult to win last year because of trying to win the Masters and the Grand Slam, and then this year I realized it’s just really difficult to win the Masters,” McIlroy said. “I tried to convince myself it was both.”

McIlroy was in the lead during each round of the masters. This makes him the fourth golfer in the past 40 years to lead or co-lead after each round of the Masters.

He also established his name in foreign history books as well. The Irish-born McIlroy won his sixth major championship, placing him second all-time in major championship wins among European golfers. First place is Harry Vardon, who was an English golfer from 1896 to 1914.

Despite leading after every round, the Masters Tournament win didn’t come without competition. After the sixth hole, Cameron Young was only two shots behind him. McIlroy admitted that his cold start had him worried.

“I needed to know where I was in the tournament, and after the sixth hole I was like, ‘OK, if I can get back to even par for the day,’ which I did with the birdies on 7 and 8, I knew I was going to be right in there going into the back nine. I was keeping an eye all day.” He said.

The next PGA Tour event is the RBC Heritage tournament from April 16 to 19.

Projected No. 1 overall pick, Fernando Mendoza, has told the NFL he doesn’t plan to attend the NFL Draft.

Mendoza plans to watch the NFL Draft with his family in Miami. The Las Vegas Raiders hold the No. 1 overall pick and are reportedly planning to take Mendoza.

2025 No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward was present at the draft to hear his name called by the Tennessee Titans. However, No. 1 overall picks haven’t been showing up to the draft as much in recent years. Myles Garrett, Baker Mayfield, Joe Burrow, Trevor Lawrence and Travon Walker all didn’t attend the draft. In fairness to Burrow, the draft was in commissioner Roger Goodell’s house due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so he didn’t have much say in the matter.

In the early days of the NFL Draft, it wasn’t televised. This meant if you weren’t present at the NFL Draft, you could go hours, if not days, without knowing if or when you were drafted. Even after the NFL Draft began being televised in 1980, being in the draft room gave prospects early access to news about their draft prospects.

However, in 2026, players receive information about their draft spot via text. Being at the draft has very little upside outside of Goodell giving you the team’s jersey and cap.

For some prospects, being in the draft room can backfire. In 2018, Lamar Jackson sat patiently for his name to be called. The Baltimore Ravens eventually took him with the No. 32 overall pick. Jackson’s being at the draft sparked conversation about how long it took him to be drafted.

Shedeur Sanders got an even worse fate. He went undrafted in the first round despite being at the draft.

The 2026 NFL Draft will take place from April 23-25 in Pittsburgh.
