Browns’ Shedeur Sanders Named As Pro Bowl Replacement, Shocking Many Fans

Kevin Stefanski‘s only Pro Bowl quarterback during his time with the Cleveland Browns will be Shedeur Sanders. As announced on Monday, the rookie quarterback will replace Drake Maye in the Pro Bowl games.

This comes as a major shock, as Sanders only played in eight games and didn’t even have average stats. Sanders totalled 1,400 passing yards, eight total touchdowns, and 10 interceptions while having an 18.9 quarterback rating. Sanders went 3-4 and completed just 56.6% of his passes.

Sanders took over for fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel when he suffered a concussion, giving the starting job to Sanders. Sanders becomes the first fifth-round pick since Puka Nacua to make the Pro Bowl.

The original Pro Bowl selections were Maye, Justin Herbert and Josh Allen, but because Maye made the Super Bowl, he will be unable to attend the Pro Bowl.

The Pro Bowl has declined every year as players no longer view it as an honor. The game is now flag football, switching from playing a real game to flag in 2023. The Pro Bowl has also been moved to the week of the Super Bowl and will be held in San Francisco. The game will be played on February 3.

Sanders saw himself fall during the draft after being the offensive player of the year in the Big 12 during his final season at Colorado. The son of Deion Sanders was not expected to fall to round five, as many expected his name to be called much earlier.

With Deshaun Watson expected to be back next season for the Browns, it is up in the air whether or not Sanders will be the starting quarterback for the franchise next season. The Browns are still looking for a head coach for next season.

Sanders had a rookie season to forget, but he will join an exclusive club of rookies to make the Pro Bowl.
