Ryan Braun
On Thursday, it was announced that left fielder Ryan Braun will become a free agent. The Milwaukee Brewers will not exercise his contract option for $15 million for another season. This effectively ends Braun’s tenure with the Brewers.
Braun had spent all his career with the Brewers and had developed into an all-star there. Braun was seen as the face of the Brewers during his tenure there. The 36-year-old won accolades such as the NL MVP, NL Rookie of The Year and a five-time Silver Slugger. Additionally, he had proven to be a great slugger and hitter as he had finished six seasons with a batting average above .300. It was through his exceptional hitting that lead the Brewers to five postseason appearances. Braun’s final season with the Brewers saw his production go down as he finished with a batting average of .233 with eight home runs and 26 RBIs.
The left fielder will be hoping to continue his career as free agency looms. Despite Braun’s decline in production, he is still a solid player that could provide a team with leadership and experience.
