Braves’ Marcell Ozuna Charged With DUI – But He May Not Get Suspended

Atlanta Braves outfielder Marcell Ozuna is in trouble once again.

This time, he has been arrested and charged with driving under the influence (DUI).

He was released from Gwinnett County jail on a $1,830 bond on Saturday.

The two-time all-star just appeared in 48 games last season for the Braves after getting arrested for domestic violence charges, which were dropped to two misdemeanors.

He was suspended for 20 games after being deemed by the MLB to violate its domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse policy.

Additionally, Ozuna remained off the active roster with an injury and as the case went through the court system last season.

Meanwhile, it’s unclear if he will be suspended this time as the MLB has no strict suspension policy when it comes to DUIs.

In fact, Miguel CabreraShin-Soo Choo and Danny Duffy were all left unpunished by the MLB in the past after getting arrested for DUIs.

In 2021, Ozuna signed a four-year $65 million contract with the Braves.

He is set to make $16 million each in 2023 and the following season still.

Braves manager Brian Snitker has decided to sit Ozuna for the past several games.

Ozuna has not played since August 14.

On the season, he is batting just .214 with 20 home runs.
