Boxing Champ Gervonta Davis Arrested For Alleged Assault Of Ex-Girlfriend

Former three-weight champion Gervonta Davis has been arrested after a two-week search.

The arrest warrant was issued on January 14. Courtney Rossel, the ex-girlfriend of Davis, alleges that Davis attacked and restrained her at the club where she worked.

The Miami Gardens Police Department worked with the United States Marshals to find Davis. The two departments searched three different counties looking for Davis. It’s unclear how he was able to evade custody for two weeks. He was arrested on January 28 without incident. He was booked into Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center later that night.

According to Rossel, the two met in 2022 and dated for five months in 2025. She did not have communication with Davis after their relationship ended. The alleged attack happened on October 27.

Rossel filed a criminal complaint with the Miami Gardens Police Department along with a separate civil lawsuit. Davis is charged with battery, false imprisonment and attempted kidnapping.

Davis was confirmed to be in Miami at the time of the alleged attack. He was training to fight Jake Paul at the Kaseya Center.

Davis was replaced on the ticket by Anthony Joshua due to Davis’ name being involved in a lawsuit we now know is related to this incident. Rossel’s legal team attempted to serve Davis with lawsuits for months without success.  Joshua defeated Paul in six rounds on Dec. 19. Davis last fought in March, where he held Lamont Roach Jr. to a draw.

In 2023, Davis was sentenced to three years of probation and a 90-day house arrest following a hit-and-run case in Baltimore. He was still under this probation at the time of the alleged attack. It’s unclear how his alleged actions in Miami could impact his probation status in Maryland, and there likely won’t be an answer unless Davis is found guilty.
