Adam Jones has landed himself in hot water yet again.

Bengals CB Adam Jones Charged With Assault, Disorderly Conduct, Felony Harassment

The 33-year-old Bengals cornerback faces a felony and three misdemeanors after an altercation in downtown Cincinnati late Monday night.

According to Hamilton County Jail inmate records, Jones faces misdemeanor charges of assault, disorderly conduct and obstructing official business, and a felony count of harassment with a bodily substance.

At his court hearing Tuesday morning, where his bond was set at $37,500, public defender Lauren Staley “vehemently” denied all charges and added that he has witnesses to counter the allegations.

Staley also said Jones will hire an attorney, and the Hamilton County sheriff’s office said Jones will remain imprisoned until a blood test can be performed Wednesday.

According to a criminal complaint obtained by WBRC-TV, Jones stands accused of assaulting a security guard by “pushing and poking” him in the eye. Jones then refused to stop attacking the man when ordered to by police and began to kick and head-butt as he refused to enter a police car. The cornerback then spat on a nurse on the jail’s medical staff after being taken into custody, and this landed him the felony charge.

Jones closed out his 10th NFL season on Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens. He has had several run-ins with the law throughout his career, especially at the beginning. In 2007, he took a plea deal in Las Vegas for his role in a strip-club shooting that left a bouncer paralyzed from the waist down, drawing a one-year NFL suspension.

In 2011, he was charged with disorderly conduct following an incident at a Cincinnati bar, pleading guilty and earning probation, a suspended jail sentence and 50 hours of community service. The Atlanta native was also acquitted in 2013 on an assault charge in Hamilton County after a woman accused him of punching her in a nightclub.

Last year, Jones was escorted out of a casino in Lawrenceburg, Ind. for arguing with another man and being loud and disruptive. Jones claimed he was asked to leave because he was using chewing tobacco, and was not charged with a crime.

The Titans made Jones the sixth overall pick in the 2005 draft, and he started 28 games in his first two seasons. After being named an all-pro in 2014 and making the 2015 Pro Bowl, Jones signed a three-year contract with the Bengals in March. He has repeatedly expressed how grateful he is toward the team for standing by him, and has vehemently defended Coach Marvin Lewis. Jones has two years remaining on his $22 million extension with the Bengals. The team would save $6.3 million against the salary cap should they part ways with him during the offseason.

“The best way to describe is if you’re stuck in the hole and you don’t have no one but God,” Jones said last year about his life before joining the Bengals. “And everyone has turned their back on you, and you look up and it’s light up at the tunnel, but where you’re standing at it’s dark, dark as hell. You gotta be strong, man, to come out of those kind of situations and trust in yourself and believe in God and do all the right things to try to get back.”
