Barcelona Star Lionel Messi Misses Penalty To Add New Unwanted Record

Messi missed a penalty during Barcelona’s 6-0 victory over Getafe on Saturday. This was the superstar’s fourth missed penalty of the season, and the eighth missed penalty of his career as a player for Barcelona–the most by any one player at the club.

Eight also happens to be the number of missed spot-kicks for Barcelona this season, a new La Liga record for any one team in a single season. Nevertheless, Messi and Barcelona are on a record run of 37 games won in all competitions. They will next face Arsenal at their very own Camp Nou on Wednesday for the second-leg of their last-16 Champions League tie holding a two-goal advantage.

During Saturday’s game, Messi also scored one goal and helped create three.
