The NFL schedule has been released and with that, it means that fans can start buying tickets for the 2020 season. Over the course of the last few weeks, we here at uSports have been dissecting the regular season schedules of each NFL team, and telling you what games we think you are going to want to attend.

With things up in the air regarding the Redskins’ team name, it will be interesting to see what they will ultimately go with. The Redskins have not been good for a long time. They made the playoffs twice in the last ten years, doing so in 2012 and 2015, but got bounced in the first round both times in games that were really not all that close. Last season was no different, as the Redskins went just 3-13, which earned them the second pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, where they selected Chase Young out of Ohio State. It seems that there is a new regime coming to the nation’s capital, with Young, quarterback Dwyane Haskins and wide receiver Terry McLaurin being the nice young faces of the franchise for this team. Ron Rivera, after all the success he had in Carolina, steps in as the new head coach of this team which I am really excited about. The offensive line did lose Trent Williams in a trade this offseason, but there are still some nice pieces on that unit with guys like Brando Scherrff and Morgan Moses. The running game is poor, and we hopefully will see if Derrius Guice can finally live up to all the hype. The Redskins’ success in 2020 will most likely come on the defensive side of the ball. In addition to Young, there is also Ryan Kerrigan, Jonathan Allen, Daron Payne, Thomas Davis Sr., Reuben Foster, Kendall Fuller and Landon Collins. All of these guys are extremely talented and with a defensive minded coach like Rivera, he can take this group to new heights. Davis is also the old guy on this defense and played for Rivera in Carolina, which could prove to be good in terms of locker room culture. The thing for the Redskins is that they still have a long way to go. I don’t think Haskins is the quarterback of the future, and no one should expect this team to make the playoffs. They will probably finish last in the NFC East once again. For fans of the Redskins, here is what I will say, they are not building for 2021, they are building for sustained success from 2025-2030. Be patient with this team.

Full Redskins Schedule:

Week 1: vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Week 2: at Arizona Cardinals

Week 3: at Cleveland Browns

Week 4: vs. Baltimore Ravens

Week 5: vs. Los Angeles Rams

Week 6: at New York Giants

Week 7: vs. Dallas Cowboys

Week 8: BYE

Week 9: vs. New York Giants

Week 10: at Detroit Lions

Week 11: vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Week 12: at Dallas Cowboys

Week 13: at. Pittsburgh Steelers

Week 14: at San Francisco 49ers

Week 15: vs. Seattle Seahawks

Week 16: vs. Carolina Panthers

Week 17: at Philadelphia Eagles

Looking at the Redskins’ schedule for 2020, I am not very optimistic about how this team will do this season. I do think that the Redskins can surpass their win total from 2019, but not by much. Looking at the games prior to their Week 8 bye, the Redskins have some tough games against the Eagles, Cardinals, Browns, Ravens and Cowboys. I don’t see the Redskins winning any of those games barring something flukey. I can see them winning their games against the Rams and Giants, I wouldn’t bet on it. After their bye, there are definitely some more winnable games, including the Giants at home, as well as the Lions, Bengals, and Panthers. These will be great litmus tests for the Redskins and their future. If they get blown out in any of these four games, it will show that there is a lot more work left to do but if they win, it shows that they are on the right path. The Redskins will also play the Cowboys, Steelers, 49ers, Seahawks and Eagles, which will most likely not be wins, especially during that three week stretch from Week 12 to Week 14 where they will play all three of those games on the road. The opportunity is there for the Redskins to take steps forward for the future, but there are also opportunities for them to take steps backward.

I am going to be honest, I will not be flocking to a Redskins game in 2020 because I am not uber excited about this team. There are, however, some games on the schedule that catch my eye, and I will be paying attention to them. Here are the five Redskins games I think you should attend in 2020:

  • Week 1: Eagles at Redskins
  • Week 5: Rams at Redskins
  • Week 9: Giants at Redskins
  • Week 12: Redskins at Cowboys
  • Week 16: Panthers at Redskins

Starting with Week 1, the Redskins at Eagles always play competitively, and being that this is the first week of the year, this could be a game that the Redskins could steal from their division foes, especially since this game is at home. It will also be a nice litmus test for the Redskins to see how much they are buying into Rivera’s system. Week 5 against the Rams. I think the Redskins can win this game. Jared Goff I think will be flustered by the defense and I think that this could be a game where Guice, or whoever the Redskins running back is, can thrive especially since the Rams were toward the bottom of the pack in rushing yards allowed per game in 2019. The Giants in Week 9, another rivalry game and one the Redskins can definitely win. Young will get the opportunity to go up against Andrew Thomas, the Giants’ rookie offensive tackle. Last season, the Giants had four wins, two of which came against the Redskins. This game should be uber competitive and I am excited to see what happens. Week 12 against Dallas. This game will be played on Thanksgiving, and is one of the few national TV games the Redskins will have in 2020. Similar to the Eagles in Week 1, the Redskins could pull a fast one on the Cowboys and win this one and greatly impact the NFC playoff picture. This is also the start of that three week stretch of road games for the Redskins so it would be nice for them to get off to a good start with this game. Finally Week 16 against Carolina. Both of these teams are more likely going to be at the bottom of their divisions, instead of fighting for a playoff spot, so this game could greatly impact draft position, similar to the Redskins’ Week 16 matchup against the Giants last season. Also this game will feature some of the games bright young stars in Haskins and McLaurin for Washington and Christian McCaffery and DJ Moore for Carolina.

One of the biggest decisions looming over the golf world since the PGA Tour season resumed was whether or not the Ryder Cup will be held. Last week, golf fans got some bad news regarding the popular event.

PGA of America CEO Seth Waugh in a statement yesterday said that public safety is the top priority. “As disappointing as this is, our mandate to do all we can to safeguard public health is what matters most,” he said. “The spectators who support both the U.S. and European sides are what make the Ryder Cup such a unique and compelling event and playing without them was not a realistic option.”

The Ryder Cup was originally scheduled for September 25-27 at Whistling Straits in Wisconsin. The event is a match-play event between the top golfers from the United States and the top golfers from Europe. Once the coronavirus pandemic hit, it was expected that the event would be held without fans, but seems to not be the case as the event will get postponed to 2021, according to sources.

Since fans would not be able to attend the Ryder Cup if it had been held in 2020, many members on both teams were calling for the event to be postponed, including European captain Padrig Harrington. “When you think of the Ryder Cup you think of the distinctive atmosphere generated by the spectators, such as around the first tee at Le Golf National two years ago,” he said. “If that cannot be responsibly recreated at Whistling Straits in September, then it is correct that we all wait until it can be.”

As a result of the Ryder Cup being pushed back, the Presidents Cup, which was originally slated for September 30 to October 3 2021, would be pushed back, most likely to 2022.

After signing Jamal Crawford to ahead of the NBA’s season restart in Walt Disney World, the Brooklyn Nets have made yet another addition to their team adding veteran forward Michael Beasley Thursday.

The signing comes on the heels of multiple Nets players opting not to partake in the league’s restart because of either injuries or testing positive for COVID-19. Nets general manager Sean Marks told reporters that Beasley is currently in Orlando with the team and has passed a physical and is awaiting negative tests for the virus prior to being able to practice with the team.

Marks mentioned to reporters that because of all their new guys on their roster, everyone needs to start to gel with one another. “We need to get these guys in front of our coaching staff and in front of each other. Somebody joked today [that] we were going to have to have them wearing name tags because it is a new roster.”

Beasley last played in the NBA during the 2018-2019 season for the L.A. Lakers where he averaged just seven points per game. He will not be able to play for the team in an actual game until their sixth game in the bubble as he has to serve a five game suspension for violating the NBA’s drug policy.

Nets’ coach Jacque Vaughn commented on what Beasley can bring to the team during the restart. “At the end of the day, we wanted this group to know that we’re here to win basketball games, and to maximize this team,” Vaughn said. “So Michael gives us a chance to put the ball in his hands and he can score from multiple positions, he can play multiple positions for us. So organizationally, we would look at the best talent out there and he presented himself and we’ll definitely take advantage of his talents.”

Amid concerns of possible match-fixing on Ukrainian table tennis events has led to New Jersey telling sportsbooks in the state to halt all betting on the sport.

In a notice obtained by ESPN, New Jersey officials were alerted by the Sports Wagering Integrity Monitoring Association to avoid betting on any and all table tennis matches in Ukraine or with any of six players. Those players include Liliia Zaitseva, Ivan Gaysin, Karen Dzhanibekyan, Eduard Panichev, Anastasia Efimova and Gleb Zotov

The notice does make a point of saying that there is no definite evidence of match-fixing, but there is suspension of such. “While there is not yet any evidence that any match fixing occurred in New Jersey, due the nature of the alert, the Division is suspending approval for wagering on all table tennis events in the Ukraine, including but not limited to the Setka Cup, WIN Cup, and TT Cup.”

With the coronavirus pandemic temporarily halting a lot of sports in the United States and around the globe, table tennis has been a popular sport to wagered on by bettors with hundreds of thousands of dollars being bet on the sport daily.

NFL stars are slowly starting to speak out against the anti-Semitic comments of Philadelphia Eagles’ reciver DeSean Jackson. One NFL wide receiver has even taken it upon himself to help educate Jackson.

New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman, who is Jewish himself, took to Instagram Thursday morning to invite Jackson to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. In his post, Edelman said, “I have seen DeSean play in his career, make outstanding football plays, we’ve communicated over social media. I’ve got nothing but respect for his game. I know he said some ugly things, but I do see an opportunity to have a conversation. I am proud of my Jewish heritage, and for me, it is not just about religion. It’s about community and culture as well. I am unusual because I didn’t identify as Jewish until later in my life. Whenever I encountered hatred, it never really felt like it was aimed at me. It was only after I was part of this community that I learned how destructive hate is. Anti-Semitism is one of the oldest forms of hatred. It’s rooted in ignorance and fear.”

Edelman said that if Jackson joins him at the Holocaust museum, then Edleman will be more than welcome to join Jackson at the National Museum of African American History and Culture, to learn more about black culture from Jackson.

Edelman said in his video, “There is no room for anti-Semitism in this world. This world needs a little more love, compassion and empathy.”

DENVER, CO - NOVEMBER 24: Jamal Crawford #11 of the Los Angeles Clippers controls the ball against the Denver Nuggets at Pepsi Center on November 24, 2015 in Denver, Colorado. The Clippers defeated the Nuggets 111-94.

With the NBA restart starting in a few weeks, the Brooklyn Nets have been the most impacted by players opting not to play as Taurean Prince, Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, Spencer Dinwiddie, DeAndre Jordan and Wilson Chandler have all said that they will not play in Orlando. Because of this, the Nets have looked to free agents to fill the holes on their roster.

On Wednesday, it came out that the Nets will be signing 19-year NBA veteran Jamal Crawford ahead of the NBA’s season restart in Walt Disney World. Crawford has not played for an NBA team this season, but in his last NBA game for the Phoenix Suns, he scored 51 points.

The 40-year-old Crawford will be the oldest player in the NBA’s bubble, and should provide some veteran minutes off the bench for a Nets team that has already signed Tyler Johnson and Justin Anderson.

The Nets are currently the 7-seed in the Eastern Conference. They have a 1.5-game lead over the Orlando Magic, who are in eighth and a six game lead over the Washington Wizards who are in ninth. If the Nets were to stumble in the eight regular season games in the NBA bubble and the Wizards surge, the Wizards would have to get within four games of the Nets to force a mini play-in tournament to determine the final seed in the playoffs.

Last season for the Suns, Crawford played in a limited role, where he averaged 7.9 points per game in just under 19 minutes per game.

Tim Shaw, Former LB with ALS, Signs One-Day Contract with Titans

The NFL schedule has been released and with that, it means that fans can start buying tickets for the 2020 season. Over the course of the last few weeks, we here at uSports have been dissecting the regular season schedules of each NFL team, and telling you what games we think you are going to want to attend.

GET TENNESSEE TITANS TICKETS HERE!

The Titans in 2019 had a tale of two seasons. In their first five games, with Marcu Mariota as the starter at quarterback, the team went 2-3. Then in Week 6, Ryan Tannehill took over as the starter, and the team went 7-4 in the regular season, finishing 9-7, and made it to the AFC Championship game, taking down the Patriots and Ravens, and having a lead against the Chiefs. Now in 2020, Tennessee and their fans have a lot to look forward to. Mariota is no longer on the roster and Tannehill was signed to a long-term deal. Derrick Henry just led the league in rushing yards and looks to be even better this coming season. Despite losing Jack Conklin on the offensive line to free agency, the Titans still look to have a really solid line to protect Tannehill and create holes for Henry. A.J. Brown showed in his first season that he can be a top wide receiver in the NFL, and he is paired with Corey Daivs and Adam Humphries. They could use one other receiver possibly, but it is not a major concern. This Titans defense is very intriguing with guys like Vic Beasley Jr, Rashaan Evans, Harold Landry III, Kevin Byard, Malcolm Butler and Adoree Jackson, among others, they can give opposing offenses fits this season. The AFC South does not project to be an extremely tough division so it seems that it is the Titans’ to lose as they are the favorite to win, at least in my opinion. Head coach Mike Vrabel has shown how good of a coach he is with the team’s performance last season, now we will see if they can build upon that here in 2020.

Full Titans Schedule:

Week 1: at Denver Broncos

Week 2: vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

Week 3: at Minnesota Vikings

Week 4: vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

Week 5: vs. Buffalo Bills

Week 6: vs. Houston Texans

Week 7: BYE

Week 8: at Cincinnati Bengals

Week 9: vs. Chicago Bears

Week 10: vs. Indianapolis Colts

Week 11: at Baltimore Ravens

Week 12: at Indianapolis Colts

Week 13: vs. Cleveland Browns

Week 14: at Jacksonville Jaguars

Week 15: vs. Detroit Lions

Week 16: at Green Bay Packers

Week 17: at Houston Texans

I think the Titans have a very favorable schedule in 2020 and the road to the playoffs is very clear. Nine wins should be enough to get them there, ten to win the division I think and I definitely think that will be doable. Starting with the game prior to their bye, they open at Denver on Monday Night Football. This will be an intriguing game as we will be able to see what type of team the Titans will be in 2020. I understand that this is the first game of the year but you can learn a lot. The Titans also have a three game stretch against Pittsburgh, Buffalo and Houston from Week 4 to Week 6 where they all will be home games for the Titans. This is a great opportunity for Tennessee to win some games earlier in the year that they can win some games against teams that have playoff aspirations here in 2020. After their bye week, six of their final ten games will be played on the road, which can be a grind but should not be too difficult. They will have to go play at Baltimore, Green Bay and Houston, which will not be easy but the more games the Titans win earlier in the year, the less of a need there will be for them to win these games. There are a lot of winnable games for the Titans following their bye against teams like the Bengals, Bears, Colts (who they’ll play twice), Jaguars and Lions. That should be four to six wins right there which could be enough to push the Titans into the playoffs, especially if they take care of business early on in the year.

Given the success they had last season, I am going to want to see if this team can do it again in 2020 – and I am sure I am not the only one. Because of this, I will try to see them in person at least once, and think you should as well. Here are the five games I will try to make it to in 2020:

  • Week 1: Titans at Broncos
  • Week 5: Bills at Titans
  • Week 11: Titans at Ravens
  • Week 13: Browns at Titans
  • Week 17: Titans at Texans

Week 1 against Denver, in Denver, has a lot of interesting things about it. First, being that the Broncos project to be really good throwing the football, the Titans allowed the ninth most passing yards per game in 2019, allowing an average of 255 per game. On the flip side, the Broncos were middle of the road in run defense, allowing an average of 111.4 rushing yards per game in 2019 and with Henry in the backfield, the Titans could potentially run all over the Broncos. Week 5 against Buffalo, there really is not a clear cut storyline for this game in my opinion. There is just something about it with how good these teams are projected to be in 2020 that just catches my eye, and this could be an early game in the year that could greatly impact the playoff picture. Week 11 at Baltimore, a rematch of the AFC Divisional Round from last season, where the Titans went to Baltimore and destroyed the Ravens 28-12. Tannehill threw for just 88 yards in that game and Henry was flat out unstoppable in this one, rushing for 195 yards. This could be one where the Ravens come out hungry seeking revenge against the Titans and will allow us to see whether or not the Titans are legit. Week 13 against Cleveland, another game from last season where the Titans flat out dominated, winning 43-13. Similar to that Bills game, this game could greatly impact the AFC playoff picture whether it be both of these teams making it, or just one of them making it. Finally, Week 17 against Houston. The biggest competition for the AFC South division crown is the Texans, and this game could decide the division or be the one where the loser might miss the playoffs entirely. Regardless, there will be a lot riding on this game which means players on both sides will be fighting extremely hard to win. Which will make this one all the more worth watching.

PHILADELPHIA, PA - NOVEMBER 03: DeSean Jackson #10 of the Philadelphia Eagles looks on prior to the game against the Chicago Bears at Lincoln Financial Field on November 3, 2019 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

After Philadelphia Eagles’ wide receiver DeSean Jackson posted a series of anti-Semitic comments on his social media, he received a lot of criticism for such actions. Jackson has since apologized for his posts. There are, however, some athletes who have stood in Jackson’s corner.

Former NBA player Stephen Jackson took to social media, showing support for Jackson in a video. “So I just read a statement that the Philadelphia Eagles posted regarding DeSean Jackson’s comments. He was trying to educate himself, educate people, and he’s speaking the truth. Right? He’s speaking the truth. You know he don’t hate nobody, but he’s speaking the truth of the facts that he knows and trying to educate others. But y’all don’t want us to educate ourselves. If it’s talking about the Black race, y’all ain’t saying nothing about it. They killing us, police killing us and treating us like s—, racism at an all-time high, but ain’t none of you NFL owners spoke up on that, ain’t none of you teams spoke up on that. But the same team had a receiver who said the word n—– publicly! They gave him an extension! I play for the Big3. We have a Jewish owner. He understands where we stand and some of the things we say, but it’s not directed to him. It’s the way we’ve been treated.”

The receiver that Jackson noted that shouted the n-word in public was Riley Cooper back in 2013, which he said toward a black security guard at a Kenny Chesney concert. The Eagles extended Cooper’s contract in 2014 but was released in 2016

That video has since been deleted from Stephen Jackson’s Instagram but he has since posted something else that responds to his critics.

After the Ivy League opted to forgo all fall sports for the 2020-2021 school year because of the coronavirus pandemic, the first power five conference has made a similar decision, altering the college sports landscape entirely for this season.

The Big Ten announced on Thursday that all fall sports in the conference, including football, will play teams in the Big Ten. This assumes that the season is played at all because of the virus.

The conference issued a statement yesterday, stating, “If the Conference is able to participate in fall sports (men’s and women’s cross country, field hockey, football, men’s and women’s soccer, and women’s volleyball) based on medical advice, it will move to Conference-only schedules in those sports. By limiting competition to other Big Ten institutions, the Conference will have the greatest flexibility to adjust its own operations throughout the season and make quick decisions in real-time based on the most current evolving medical advice and the fluid nature of the pandemic.”

The decision eliminates some highly anticipated non-conference matchups in football for this coming season which included Ohio St. vs. Oregon, Michigan vs. Washington, Iowa vs. Iowa St. and Wisconsin vs. Notre Dame, among others.

It is not clear as to whether or not how the schedule will be played out for the 2020 season amongst Big Ten teams, but the big question is now will other conferences follow suit.

An investigation is pending but no arrests or charges were made, according to authorities. The incident appeared to show that Perry punched an older gentleman in a dispute. Restaurant employees asked Perry to leave but he refused to.

Perry posted a tweet Wednesday night in which he simply said “no comment” in regards to the incident.

The 28-year old Perry spent six-months in a Florida jail for violating his probation back in 2014. He was placed on probation for burglary charges. In 2013, Perry pleaded no comment to a battery charge.

After missing out on the NHL’s payoffs for the 2020 season, the New Jersey Devils have announced that they will be making a change at the head coaching position.

Lindy Ruff, 60, will take over for John Hynes, who had been the head man since the 2015-2016 season. Hynes was fired midway through this last season and was replaced by Alain Nasreddine as the interim head coach.

This will be Ruff’s third stint as a head coach in the NHL. He spent 15 seasons as the head man for the Buffalo Sabers from 1997-2003, where he made the Stanley Cup Finals in 1999. After being fired by the Sabers midway through the 2013 season, Ruff was not be unemployed for long as he was brought on by the Dallas Stars for the same position which he held for four seasons. During 19 seasons as a head coach, Ruff has a 736-554-78 record.

Last season the Devils went 28-29-12 and had 68 points, prior to the season’s stoppage. That points mark was good enough for last in the Metropolitan division.

The NFL schedule has been released and with that, it means that fans can start buying tickets for the 2020 season. Over the course of the last few weeks, we here at uSports have been dissecting the regular season schedules of each NFL team, and telling you what games we think you are going to want to attend.

In the first season for Bruce Arians as head coach in Tampa, the Buccaneers did not play all too well. Jameis Winston became the first quarterback to throw 30 touchdowns, as well as 30 interceptions, their running game was atrocious, and although they allowed the fewest rushing yards per game in the entire NFL on defense, they also allowed the third most passing yards per game. All this led to the Buccaneers finishing 7-9, third in the NFC South, missing the playoffs once again for the 12th straight season. That looks like it will change as in case you have not already heard, the Buccaneers signed Tom Brady during the offseason, moving on from Winston. Brady will have some really good options to throw to with guys like Chris Godwin and Mike Evans, as well as Rob Grokowski who is coming out of retirement. There is also a rumor of the team signing Antonio Brown to join this receiving core as well. The running game on paper still looks lackluster with Ronald Jones and a rookie Ke’Shawn Vaughn, but on the bright side, the offensive line still looks to be really solid following the addition of Tristan Wirfs in the draft. On defense, they have 2019 league sack leader with Shaquil Barrett. He is paired with vets like Jason Pierre-Paul, Lavonte David, Ndamukong Suh and William Gholston. They also have some nice pieces on their front seven with Vita Vea and Devin White. The issue is still going to be however is the secondary. There is a lot of inexperience, as Andrew Adams and Ryan Evans have the longest NFL tenures, both entering their fifth season. There will be a lot of growing pains for the defense, and it will be on Arians, Brady and the rest of the offense to make up for that because teams will most likely be able to throw the ball all over this defense once again.

Full Tampa Bay Buccaneers Schedule:

Week 1: at New Orleans Saints

Week 2: vs. Carolina Panthers

Week 3: at Denver Broncos

Week 4: vs. Los Angeles Chargers

Week 5: at Chicago Bears

Week 6: vs. Green Bay Packers

Week 7: at Las Vegas Raiders

Week 8: at New York Giants

Week 9: vs. New Orleans Saints

Week 10: at Carolina Panthers

Week 11: vs. Los Angeles Rams

Week 12: vs. Kansas City Chiefs

Week 13: BYE

Week 14: vs. Minnesota Vikings

Week 15: at Atlanta Falcons

Week 16: at Detroit Lions

Week 17: vs. Atlanta Falcons

Looking at the Bucs’ schedule, being that they finished third place in their division a year ago, they get a break in that sense slightly, but they will still be forced to play some of the top teams in the entire NFL. The Buccaneers have a Week 13 bye, which is a good thing as they will be fresher than some other teams entering the final four weeks of the season. It can, however, be viewed as a bad thing as well, as it puts an extra emphasis on the games in the heart of their season when the team might not be its healthiest. Opening the 2020 season with a trip to New Orleans was one of the first things that caught my attention when the schedule was released. Everyone will have their eyes glued to their screens to see Brady and Drew Brees face-off in a game that could mean a lot for the NFC playoff picture, despite it being in Week 1. Throughout the course of the season, Tampa Bay is tied with seven other teams for the most primetime games in 2020 with five. What is interesting for the Bucs, is that they play four of their primetime games in a five week stretch from Week 5 at Chicago to Week 9 vs. New Orleans. Those games are against Chicago, Las Vegas, New York (Giants), and New Orleans, so it is not like those are really tough games outside of the Saints, so it is very possible that Tampa can take care of business. Week 12 against Kansas City raised a lot of eyebrows as Patrick Mahomes and Brady have had some memorable games over the last few matchups, and being that this game will be played in Tampa should make it even more interesting. Games against Denver, Green Bay, Minnesota and Atlanta, also catch my attention as all of those teams have eyes toward the playoffs and expect to be in the field in 2020, along with Tampa, so that could add to the intensity of those games.

With the addition of Brady, the Buccaneers became one of the must watch teams in 2020 for NFL fans across the country, regardless of whether or not they particularly like Brady. With that, here are the five games I think you will want to attend in 2020:

  • Week 3: Buccaneers at Broncos
  • Week 6: Packers at Buccaneers
  • Week 9: Saints at Buccaneers
  • Week 12: Chiefs at Buccaneers
  • Week 17: Falcons at Buccaneers

Starting with Week 3 against the Broncos, on the road. This will be a major offensive showcase, specifically in the passing game. The Buccaneers with all their options in the passing game, will go up against Drew Lock, Cortland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy and Noah Fant, among others in the passing game, and the Broncos look to be the up and coming team in the AFC after a few not so great years following winning Super Bowl 50. Given how poorly the Buccaneers’ pass defense projects to be, this will be an interesting test early on in the year. Week 6 against Green Bay, Aaron Rodgers is still a top-10 NFL quarterback in my opinion. In two career matchups against Rodgers where both are the starter, the two have split their meetings, with Brady winning their most recent game against Rodgers back in 2018. Week 9 against New Orleans, although this game is not as anticipated as their Week 1 matchup, but the reason why I have this game as a must watch and not Week 1, is because given this crazy offseason, both of these squads might come out a little rusty, so by Week 9, hopefully, these teams will be in better game shape. Week 12 against Kansas City, as mentioned earlier Mahomes vs. Brady is always exciting, and with the offensive firepower on both of these teams, this year’s matchup could be once again a game where you’ll not want to leave your couch. This also could be a possible Super Bowl preview, who knows. Finally Week 17 against Atlanta. Both of these teams have high caliber offenses on paper, and being that this is the final game of the season, this will have an immense impact on the NFC playoff picture, whether it be both of these teams make it or one of these teams can play the spoiler to the other. Of all of the Week 17 games this season, this might have the biggest impact on the playoffs.

Cam Newton To Wear #1 For The New England Patriots

After officially signing with the New England Patriots on Wednesday, it was announced that Cam Newton will wear the same number he has worn the entirety of his NFL career: #1.

The Patriots announced the signing and the jersey reveal in a post on Twitter. Newton wore one during his nine seasons with the Carolina Panthers.

Newton will become the first player since 1987 to wear the number one for the Patriots, and fourth in franchise history.

Upon the announcement that the signing would happen, people thought that it was an interesting marriage between Newton, who has a reputation of being loud and flamboyant, and head coach Bill Belichick, whose reputation has been no nonsense, always focused on the task. Marshall Newhouse, while speaking on SiriusXM’s Late Hits show, commented on the relationship between the two, as he has worked with both Newton and Belichick. “Some people who are just uncomfortable with a guy as strong in personality as Cam might see that as something that could cause friction, but people who are secure and understand what it takes to play in the NFL — both Bill Belichick and [offensive coordinator] Josh McDaniels as a staff and Cam Newton as a guy who has matured and competed and grown so much over the years — to those guys, none of this matters.”

According to reports, Newton will not be handed the starting job and will have to compete with second-year quarterback Jarrett Stidham and NFL journeyman Brian Hoyer.

Adonis Garcia's 2-Run HR Lifts Braves Past Mets 4-3

As the Washington Redskins of the NFL have received criticism of their team name and have just decided to change it, numerous other pro sports teams with names along similar lines have not received as much criticism. One team in Major League Baseball, however, spoke out over the weekend and stood strong in their team’s identity.

The Atlanta Braves and their management, according to Ken Rosenthal, have come out and said that they will not be changing the clubs name, although they will be reconsidering the famous “Tomahawk Chop,” something fans do during the course of the game. In a statement, the team said “The Atlanta Braves honor, support and value the Native American community. That will never change.”

The issue with the “Tomahawk Chop” came up last season during the playoffs when St. Louis Cardinals pitcher, Ryan Helsley, who is a member of the Cherokee tribe, said that the chant made Native Americans seem like cavemen.

The Braves have been working with the National Congress of American Indians and organization CEO, Kevin Alis, said that their conversations are steps in the right direction. “NCAI is extremely encouraged by the efforts of athletic teams at the major league, college, and high school level that understand the harm to American Indians and their communities caused by mascots and team names,” Alis said. “Such imagery creates misperceptions and unfair stereotypes of the American Indian, tramples on sacred customs and traditions, and results in American Indians not being viewed as equals in our society. Painful disrespect is often seen when fans don themselves in ceremonial regalia, war paint, and shout made up chants with little or no understanding of the importance and stature of such within the American Indian communities across the country. We welcome and applaud the efforts to address this important issue by the Cleveland baseball team, and all other organizations in similar situations.”

Bucs WR Mike Evans suspended one game

With NFL training camps scheduled to start later this month, the league has already gotten rid of two preseason games for this season. With the unpredictability of COVID-19, however, and the increased risk football players are at to contract the virus, the NFL Players Association is calling for the elimination of the remaining two preseason games.

One NFL head coach, Tampa Bay BuccaneersBruce Arians, agrees with this sentiment telling the Tampa Bay Times that he would not be shocked if every player contracted the virus at some point during the 2020 season. “We’ve got to be careful. The players, they’re going to all get sick, that’s for sure. It’s just a matter of how sick they get,” he said.

An NFL Network report detailed that ahead of training camp, the league plans to test all players and staff, as well as their family members and those living with them for COVID-19.

The 67-year-old Arians has not completed an entire season as a head coach without a visit to the hospital, and is a three-time cancer survivor, putting him at an increased risk of contracting the virus. He also noted on Monday, that given his advanced age and previous health conditions, he has forced himself to rethink how he coaches compared to a regular season. “I got to be real careful. I’ll probably double with a mask and a (face) shield. You know, because l already had my scare out there (in Arizona) once a couple of years ago. For me personally, I’ve got a plan and I just have to be smart enough to stay with it.”

Reigning NFL MVP and star quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens, Lamar Jackson has canceled his annual “Funday with LJ” event in Florida, this comes as positive cases for COVID-19 rises in Broward County, where the event was slated to take place.

This was going to be the third year of the event, which advertised flag football and other fun summer activities with Jackson in his hometown of Pompano Beach, Florida. It is unclear how many people were expected to attend, but social gatherings larger than ten are currently not allowed in Pompano Beach, given concerns about the virus.

The event was originally slated to be held this weekend, but with there being more than 21,000 positive cases of the virus and 400 dead in Broward County alone, the star quarterback opted to cancel.

It is unclear whether or not Jackson will reschedule.

According to an affidavit, it seems that might have been possible.

On Thursday, a court document detailed that Williamson and his stepfather received an alleged $400,000 prior to committing to Duke. The affidavit was filed by Ford and her attorneys, who initially sued the 20-year-old Williamson for $100 million after he left her company, Prime Marketing Sports, for CAA. Ford has been trying to prove that Williamson was never able to play at Duke per NCAA rules, which was Williamson’s initial out of his agreement with Ford, and force him to settle.

According to the affidavit, Williamson and his stepfather had demanded the $400,000 for Williamson to join a marketing group, prior to his time at Duke, which had made him ineligible to play for Duke. The affidavit also notes that Williamson and his family accepted housing and three luxury cars from Duke alumni.

In a statement, Williamson’s lawyer called the documents in question fake. “The alleged ‘agreements’ and driver’s license attached to these papers are fraudulent, and neither Mr. Williamson nor his family know these individuals nor had any dealings with them. We had previously alerted Ms. Ford’s lawyers to both this fact and that we had previously reported the documents to law enforcement as forgeries, but they chose to go ahead with another frivolous filing anyway. This is a desperate and irresponsible attempt to smear Mr. Williamson at the very time he has the opportunity to live his dream of playing professional basketball.”

Williamson is preparing to participate in the NBA’s season restart for the Pelicans in Walt Disney World, but it seems that his legal battles are far from over.

The NFL schedule has been released and with that, it means that fans can start buying tickets for the 2020 season. Over the course of the last few weeks, we here at uSports have been dissecting the regular season schedules of each NFL team, and telling you what games we think you are going to want to attend.

Last season, the Seahawks performed immensely well, going 11-5. This normally would have won their division in the NFC West, but because of the dream season that the 49ers had, the Seahawks were the 5-seed in the NFC playoffs and were only able to make it to the divisional round, losing to the Packers. This team revolves around Russell Wilson and his ability at quarterback. He has some really talented receivers to throw to in DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. The team signed Greg Olsen in the offseason to pair with Will Dissly which is a nice one-two punch at tight end. The offensive line is not the greatest, but Duane Brown holds down the line on Wilson’s blind side. The one concern I have with this offense is with the run game. Chris Carson and Rashaad Penny are both coming off season ending injuries and have an injury history. They did sign Carlos Hyde who had a really good season for Houston last season, but this running back group as a whole needs to be at least average for this team to have success in 2020. The defense on the Seahawks is not what it once was with the Legion of Boom, but it is definitely better than it once was. Bobby Wagner is one of the best inside linebackers in football, KJ Wright and Bruce Irvin are two solid veterans. Jarran Reed is slowly emerging as a top interior lineman in the NFL. Then there is the secondary, with guys like Tre Flowers, Quandre Diggs, Shaquill Griffin, and Bradley McDougald. This group is slowly emerging into one of the best secondaries in the league, and I know I sound like a broken record but it is very much true. The thing with this secondary as well, is that all four of those guys are younger, so they will all continue to grow together. Pete Carroll has proven that he can adapt to an ever changing NFL and will look to once again have success with this team.

Full Seahawks Schedule:

Week 1: at Atlanta Falcons

Week 2: vs. New England Patriots

Week 3: vs. Dallas Cowboys

Week 4: at Miami Dolphins

Week 5: vs. Minnesota Vikings

Week 6: BYE

Week 7: at Arizona Cardinals
Week 8: vs. San Francisco 49ers

Week 9: at Buffalo Bills

Week 10: at Los Angeles Rams

Week 11: vs. Arizona Cardinals

Week 12: at Philadelphia Eagles

Week 13: vs. New York Giants

Week 14: vs. New York Jets

Week 15: at Washington Redskins

Week 16: vs. Los Angeles Rams

Week 17: at San Francisco 49ers

Looking at the Seahawks’ schedule, the thing that concerns me the most is the fact that they have their bye week in Week 6. That means that they will play 11 straight games to finish their season which is never easy. The wear and tear on the bodies of the Seahawks players will be immense so don’t be surprised if we see an increase in injuries on this team. Looking at the games prior to their bye, it will not be super easy. The only game that I 100% think they will win is in Week 4 against Miami. I can see the Seahawks losing any of those games against Atlanta, New England, Dallas and Minnesota. I don’t think that will happen, and the Seahawks lose all four of those games, but I would not be surprised if the Seahawks enter their bye week 2-3. If they want to win their division, the Seahawks will most likely have to enter their bye at 4-1. Following their bye week, there are definitely some winnable games against teams like the Rams twice, the Giants, Jets, and Redskins. The Seahawks could very easily win all five of these games while positioning themselves nicely. Seattle will also play all six of their division games in their final 11 games, which is a blessing and a curse. It is a blessing, because they will control their own fate most likely late in the season. It is a curse, however, because given the fact that they’ll play so many games in a row toward the end of the season that they will be exhausted and those games will not be easy. Also after their bye week, the Seahawks will play the Bills and Eagles. These two games should be wins for Seattle, but they will be tough and add once again to what wear and tear, especially since they are both on the road across the country. That is the thing for Seattle as well. Given that they are located so isolated, if you will, from the rest of the NFL in Washington state, they travel significantly more miles than any other NFL team. This season, the Seahawks are expected to travel 28,982 miles for their games. Over 6,500 more miles than the team that will travel the second most miles. The Seahawks will also travel over 2,000 miles for a game five times, the most of any team in the NFL. If I haven’t made it clear already, that will be the hardest part of the Seahawks schedule this season. Not so much their opponents but the travel. Every year though they seem to manage it well so I have faith that they’ll be able to do so once again in 2020.

Given how much success the Seahawks have had in the last decade or so, they are certainly a team to watch. Although it would take a lot of traveling to see them, I will try to make it to at least one of their games here in 2020. Here are the five I will try to see and think you are going to want to watch as well:

  • Week 1: Seahawks at Falcons
  • Week 3: Cowboys at Seahawks
  • Week 9: Seahawks at Bills
  • Week 11: Cardinals at Seahawks
  • Week 17: Seahawks at 49ers

Week 1 against Atlanta, on the road, is a deceptively big game on the NFL schedule. It will get overlooks by some of the other marquee matchups like Saints vs. Buccaneers, but it is definitely one that you will want to watch. Atlanta’s offense has seemed to have gotten better with the addition of Todd Gurley to go along with their elite offensive line, and a passing game that features Matt Ryan, Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley, and Hayden Hurst. This will be an early test for Seattle’s defense but also for their offense to see if they can keep up with arguably the best offense on paper in the entire NFL. Week 3 against Dallas, another team with a top flight offense, they will definitely give Seattle fits depending on which Dallas team shows up. These are two teams who will be jockeying for playoff position later in the year so an early matchup between these two could be the deciding factor later on. Week 9 at Buffalo, the Bills look to be much improved once again this year following the addition of Stefon Diggs and Josh Allen being able to sling the football all over the field. It is the Bills’ defense however that has me excited for this game as last season they showed that they can handle some dynamic offenses, which the Seahawks project to have. Week 11 against Arizona and Week 17 against San Francisco will have some major influence on the NFC playoff picture. Arizona is a team on the rise and has an eye on a wild card spot and a lot to Seattle could definitely hinder their chances. Also if Kyler Murray continues to progress in his second year like a lot of people think he will, he could have a monster game. With the 49ers, as I mentioned in my preview of the 49ers’ schedule, last season this game came down to the wire in Week 17 between these two squads. The hatred might not be as big as it was in the mid-2010s between these two teams, but it is still present and the division will be on the line with this game, you can count on that.

Paul Pogba Scores 2 in Man U's 4-1 Win vs Fenerbahce

Hopes for making the Champions League are still alive for Manchester United as they took care of business 3-0 against Aston Villa on Thursday. The win extends United’s streak of consecutive matches without a loss to 17, which includes five wins in a row.

The top four teams in the English Premier League standings qualify for the Champions League, the top soccer tournament in all of Europe. The victory keeps Man. United in fifth place, one point behind Leicester City who are in fourth, and two behind Chelsea who is in third.

A penalty kick by Bruno Fernandes in the 27th minute, although a questionable call, got the party started for United. Goals by Mason Greenwood in stoppage time prior to halftime and Paul Pogba in the 58th minute added to the rout of Aston Villa.

It was Pogba’s goal that had Man. United’s manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær singing his praises. “[Paul] is a fantastic person, fantastic player; one of the best midfielders in the world. It’s a different team to the one he left when he was injured. Everything is miles better in that dressing room.”

Manchester United has four matches remaining on their EPL schedule. They will take on Southampton next on July 13, but many soccer fans have their eyes on United’s final match of the season on July 26, where they will play at home against Leicester.

Aston Villa is trying to stave off relegation and his four points behind West Ham United and Wofford to do so. Their next match will take place on July 12, on the road against Crystal Palace.
