Auction Unloads Babe Ruth Hat and Other Memorabilia for Astronomical Amount

On December 17, Grey Flannel Auctions decided to unload countless memorabilia in their Holiday Catalog Auction: this lot had everything from fight worn Mike Tyson shorts to a “Dr. J” game used jersey. But of course, there were a few items that are more important than others. Specifically the Babe Ruth hat, which went for the highest amount in the auction: the hat the “Great Bambino” wore on his tour through Japan pre-WWII was bought for a whopping $303,277.

On top of this, the auctioneer unloaded a baseball signed by the 1932 New York Yankees for around $115,242: signed by the likes of Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig and countless other Yankee legends. The Babe Ruth memorabilia went for the highest by far, but a game used cap from Joe DiMaggio’s 1937 season topped the signed baseball with a sales prices of $151,652.

And finally, another great item that was auctioned off was Michael Jordan’s 1981-1982 game worn sneakers from his days at the University of North Carolina. This was the year that Michael Jordan lead UNC to an NCAA title win over Georgetown. And on top of being game worn, these were also signed by the living legend himself: as for the final price for these historic sneakers, $33,378.
