Houston defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-1 in Game 7 of the 2017 World Series to win the overall series 4-3 and claim their first-ever national title since the Astros joined the National League as an expansion team in 1962 along with the New York Mets.

The Astros beat the Orioles 6-1 on Monday, and have begun the 2018 season strong. Houston won three of its first four games, a road series against the Texas Rangers.

Former Astros first-base coach Rich Dauer threw out the ceremonial first pitch on Monday. It was a particularly emotional homecoming for Dauer, since he has recovered after nearly dying. Dauer suffered an acute subdural hematoma during the Astros’ victory parade. A subdural hematoma is a localized collection of blood outside the blood vessels and is usually associated with traumatic brain injury.

Houston and Baltimore face off again at Minute Maid Park on Tuesday at 8:10pm EST. Justin Verlander is set to start for the Astros, while fellow righty Mike Wright Jr. will take the mound for the Orioles.
