After a tough loss on game one, the Houston Astros dominated the second game with an ending score of 7-2 and an evened score of 1-1 for the World Series.
The Astros took a first-inning lead on Alex Bregman‘s sac fly that plated Jose Altuve. The Atlanta Braves then tied it on a solo home run from catcher Travis d’Arnaud in the top of the second. The powerful Astros then broke out in the second inning with an outburst that came almost entirely from perfectly placed groundballs, the kind of groundballs that bounce the Astros’ way more often than not, the kind good-hitting teams seem to hit more often than others. The Astros took charge for good, with five singles off Atlanta ace Max Fried and some speed on the bases, the Astros were able to plate four runs in the inning.
In the seventh, Altuve added some salt on the wound with a solo home run. This was the 22nd postseason home run of his career. He also doubled in Game 2. Michael Brantley notched a multi-hit game in the postseason for the 18th time in his career.
On the pitching side, Houston starter Jose Urquidy gave them five innings of two-run ball with seven strikeouts and no walks. After his exit, four relievers ─ Cristian Javier, Phil Maton, Ryan Pressly, and Kendall Graveman ─ combined for four scoreless to secure the victory for the Astros.

“The difference between this group and some other groups I’ve had is the fact that they are always looking for something good to happen,” said Astros Manager Dusty Baker.
The Astros and Braves split Games 1 and 2 in Houston, so the World Series is now a best-of-five, and it shifts to Atlanta for Games 3-5. Historically, teams that take a 2-1 lead in a best-of-seven series go on to win the series 70.4 percent of the time, so Game 3 is a pretty significant swing game.
