The Washington Redskins and Kansas City Chiefs agreed on Tuesday to trade quarterback Alex Smith for cornerback Kendall Fuller.

The Chiefs will also reportedly get a 2018 third-round draft pick as part of the deal. Smith, 33, has also signed a four-year extension with Washington that has an annual value of $23.5 million.

The swap seemed to have shocked scores of people in the NFL community, as evidenced by players’ reactions to it on Twitter and other social media platforms.

Fuller sent a series of tweets on Tuesday night saying he was confident he wouldn’t get traded. The cornerback — a third-round draft pick out of Virginia Tech in 2016 — then mocked himself for being wrong.

“Nahh, it’s not me.. I don’t thinkk,” tweeted Fuller. Approximately one hour later, Fuller tweeted this:

Some experts seem to believe Smith’s arrival in Washington signals the end of the Kirk Cousins era in D.C. Kansas City, meanwhile, could likely now start Patrick Mahomes — the tenth overall pick in the 2017 draft — to start at quarterback. If the Redskins don’t franchise-tag Cousins for the third year in a row, he could become a free agent.

Smith, the first overall draft pick in 2005 out of Utah, has been with the Chiefs since 2013. He played his first eight seasons with the San Francisco 49ers.
