Alex Rodriguez, current designated hitter for the New York Yankees, is joining FOX Sports to help cover the rest of the 2015 MLB postseason as a studio analyst. Before his first day as an analyst, he was welcomed onto the FOX NFL Sunday set with Curt Menefee, Terry Bradshaw, Howie Long, Michael Strahan and Jimmy Johnson to help preview Week 6 of the NFL regular season.
In high school, Rodriguez was a quarterback while playing baseball and wanted to show the FOX crew that he still had what it takes to throw a football. When given a football, he threw it across the FOX studio to FOX NFL Insider Jay Glazer, where the throw was a little high and struck a TV monitor and breaking it. This followed with laughter from everyone who witnessed it and gave for a comedic event for the crew.
Rodriguez, 40, is considered one of the greatest baseball players of all time yet having been accused and suspended for performance-enhancing drugs in the past has led him to being scrutinized as a player. He finished this past season with the Yankees in vintage A-Rod fashion with 33 home runs, 86 RBIs, 131 hits, and a .252 batting average.
