While Alex Morgan has been flying around giddy after winning the Women’s World Cup, she has also been subject to sharing accommodations with flies, bed bugs and various molds.
The Portland Thorns FC star recently called out the National Women’s Soccer League for place her team in hotels where the conditions are “unacceptable.”
In a tweet that she deleted shortly after posting, she said, “@NWSL there’s no other way to address continuing problems. Hotels have been unacceptable. For ex. :Bed bugs/mold @ Adams Mark Hotel in KC.”
Her teammate, Christine Sinclair also joined in on the exposing of subpar accommodations.

While in Kansas City, the Portland Thorns played FC Kansas City, but lost 3-0 – perhaps because the bedbugs were chasing them through the field, and were already used to the taste of FC Kansas City players.
The main reason that Morgan and company are frustrated with their living quarters, is that due to the 2014 NWSL Operations manual, teams on the road must be given accommodations in 3 star hotels. However, the Adam’s Mark Hotel, where the team stayed, was listed as a 3-star place.
While the hotel reviews hold no mention of bed bugs, a Yelp user reviewed the hotel, and said that, “Wow, there was mold all over the bathroom, dirty toilet and there were bed bugs on the bed!”
