After Eagles Make Cam Jurgens One Of NFL’s Highest-Paid Centers, Debate Rages: Is He Worth It?

Last week, the Philadelphia Eagles and center Cam Jurgens signed a four-year, $68 million contract extension, making him one of the highest-paid centers in all of football.

Jurgens, 25, was entering the final year of his rookie deal. He no longer has to worry about missing his big payday.

Jurgens’ annual value on the contract is $17 million, the second highest among centers, just behind Kansas City Chiefs center Creed Humphrey. Jurgens’ contract has $39.4 million guaranteed.

Jurgens, who filled the shoes of one of the greatest offensive linemen in Eagles history, Jason Kelce, excelled in his first year as the starting center. He was named to the Pro Bowl and was a major part of the Eagles’ Super Bowl run.

“Congrats to the big man Beef Jurgy!!” Kelce posted on X. “@jurgyco is about to skyrocket. Most guaranteed money for a center. Big Extension, yuge! Happy for the big man, deserves every penny!”

Jurgens was drafted in the second round of the 2022 NFL draft. He began his career at right guard before moving to center following Kelce’s retirement.

The Eagles’ offensive line is considered one of the best in the NFL. Saquon Barkley ran for a career-high 2,005 yards and set the NFL record for most rushing yards in a season, including the playoffs.

With the Jurgens extension and recent extensions to Lane Johnson and Jordan Mailata, the Eagles are in a position to be dominant up front for years to come.
