Adam Silver Hasn’t ‘Given Any Thought’ To Inquiries By NFL Owners

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver says he hasn’t “given any thought” to inquiries by NFL owners about his willingness to switch leagues and become commissioner of the NFL.

Silver Still Mulling Leaving NBA For NFL

Silver did not strongly confirm or deny that he had been approached by NFL owners to consider the possibility of changing leagues, but sources close to the situation told ESPN that several NFL owners have tried to persuade Silver to run their league over the course of his five years as the NBA’s commissioner.

When asked, Silver had this to say: “I’ll just say I have not given it any thought,” deflecting any questions referring to those job opportunities. Not wanting to cause an uproar with the media, Silver was very careful in answering these questions. If the NBA commissioner left to switch leagues, it would create quite the story. Especially with all the turbulence occurring in the NFL.

About the position itself, Silver said: “I feel very fortunate to be in this position. As a longtime fan, as a longtime league employee, the opportunity to become the commissioner of this league was beyond anything I even ever dreamed of as a kid.”

On the other side, fans of the NFL have been trying to move on from Roger Goodell for years now. With all the problems going on off the field in the NFL, like Colin Kapernick still not being on a team and the league’s problems with domestic abuse and drug abuse, you can see why they think a new commissioner can change things. Goodell has failed in the eyes of the fans countless times because of his stance on certain issues. That’s why owners in the NFL feel like it’s time for a change and it’s not a secret.
