On Tuesday, the Brooklyn Nets (6-8) announced that guard Caris LeVert was diagnosed with a subtalar dislocation of his right foot but will not need surgery. Nets' Caris LeVert suffers dislocated foot LeVert came down hard on his right leg after colliding with Jeff Teague on an attempted chase-down block with 3.7 seconds remaining in the first half of the Nets' 120-113 road loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves ((5-9) Monday night. LeVert has emerged as one of the NBA's young breakout stars in his third season and was becoming a cornerstone in the Nets' effort to rebuild. He entered Monday's game averaging 19 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game. "Fortunately, tests performed this morning revealed that there are no fractures and only moderate ligament damage," Nets team orthopedist Dr. Martin O'Malley said in a statement. "While the optics of this injury may have appeared to be more severe, surgery will not be required." 30 SPORTS FIGURES WHO DIED IN 2018 – TRIBUTE SLIDESHOW I just want to thank God above all things b/c despite how bad the injury looked, it could’ve been a lot worse. He was carried off the court and taken to a hospital for further evaluation. He returned to New York with the team and was evaluated at the Hospital for Special Surgery. "There was really just no words," teammate Joe Harris said after the game. "We didn't talk even when we came in at halftime. There was nothing to be said. Guys were crying. It was really that horrific just to see." LeVert has had a history of injuries— his junior and senior years at Michigan were ended prematurely by injuries. He missed part of his rookie NBA season while recovering from foot surgery. As LeVert recovers the Nets will go on to host the Miami Heat (5-8) Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. EST. This game will air on YES and FSS from the Barclays Center.
