Former NFL Quarterback Brett Favre will be repaying $1.1 million in welfare money he had received for speeches he did not deliver according to the Mississippi state auditor said Wednesday. Favre sent $500,000 to auditor Shad White on Wednesday, as well as that he will be repaying the remaining $600,000 in installments over the course of the coming months. White released an audit of spending by the Mississippi Department of Human Services on Monday which detailed that Favre had been paid by a nonprofit group whose former leader had been indicted in a welfare embezzlement scheme. The audit said that Favre had received $500,000 in December 2017 and $600,000 in June 2018 and was supposed to give speeches at a minimum of three events.
