Ramirez’s wife called the police after an altercation occurred in which he slapped her in the face, which caused her to hit her head on a headboard. He was released one day after his arrest on a $2,500 bail, and the judge issued a no-contact order with his wife.
Ramirez pleaded not guilty, and the charges were eventually dropped because his wife was unwilling to cooperate with the prosecution.

Ramirez entered the 1991 MLB Draft, where the Cleveland Indians selected him No. 13 overall. He played eight seasons in Cleveland before signing with the Boston Red Sox in December 2000.
During Ramirez’s time in Boston, he helped the team win two World Series in 2004 and 2007. He won the World Series MVP for the 2004 championship.
In addition to two rings and one World Series MVP, Ramirez also made 12 All-Star games, won nine Silver Slugger awards, and hit over 30 home runs in 12 total seasons.
Ramirez’s stats suggest he should be in the Hall of Fame, but he will likely never be inducted because he failed multiple drug tests in his career related to performance-enhancing drugs.
