2020 NBA Free Agencies’ Notable Deals So Far

As the offseason continues for the NBA, some of the biggest NBA free agents have found new homes or chosen to stay with their teams.

Brandon Ingram has elected to stay with the New Orleans Pelicans on a supermax deal. The package will be worth a total of $158 million for five years. The 23-year-old broke out last season and was selected to his first all-star appearance and won the NBA Most Improved Player award. Ingram averaged 23.8 points, four assists and six rebounds last season. Ingram was seen as an important key in the developing young core that led the Pelicans to the playoffs.

Gordon Hayword chose to decline his player option and instead become a free agent. Hayward agreed to a four-year, $120 million years with the Charlotte Hornets. Hayward is set to become a Hornet next season. The 30-year-old small forward was selected as an all-star back in 2017. Since then, he has not been able to return to his all-star form. He only averaged 17.5 points, four assists, and nearly seven rebounds per game last season.

Fred VanVleet will be staying in Toronto. VanVleet agreed to a four-year $85 million deal to stay with the Toronto Raptors. VanVleet is an important player as he is part of the young core for the Raptors that helped them win the NBA championship in 2019. VanVleet has since been instrumental for the team, especially for their future. VanVleet put up solid numbers last season as he averaged 17.6 points, six assists and 3 rebounds. His solid numbers helped the Raptors surprise critics when they made it to the playoffs and nearly eliminated Boston in seven games in the semifinals.

The Wizards made it their top priority to have Bertans stay with the team. Washington convinced him to stay by pitching that star point guard John Wall will help him get open looks.

Jordan Clarkson has been retained by the Utah Jazz with a four-year $52 million deal.

Marcus Morris inked a four year $64 million deal to stay with the Los Angeles Clippers.

Jeremi Grant will be leaving the Denver Nuggets after choosing to sign a three-year $60 million deal with the Detriot Pistons.
