Lee “Infiltration” Seon-woo Takes Street Fighter V Title At 2016 EVO Championships

Gaming and WWE are the only two sports where the athlete can give himself a nickname. Lee “Infiltration” Seon-woo is a 31-year-old from South Korea and won the EVO championship in Last Vegas. He has been dominant in his fighting gamer prowess this past year.

Infiltration is the champion of Street Fighter V that came out earlier this year. According to ESPN, he has skills on the controls likened to a robot. Man against machine.

Infiltration beat Ai “Fuudo” Keita, from Japan, in the championship. Infiltration and Fuudo met in the winner’s final, but Infiltration lost sending him to the lower bracket. The South Korean played his way back to meet Fuudo in the championship and this time he was ready. The Street Fighter V championship is his fourth title in the last five tournaments he has entered. He won Final Round 19, North California Regionals, Red Bull Kumite and had a second place finish at Community Effort Orlando.

Grand final at Evolution 2016 Fuudo vs. Infiltration.

Beating Fuudo was tough, but Infiltration’s toughest challenge at the tournament was Atsushi “Yukadon” Fujimura. Yukadon met Infiltration in the winner semifinals and in the losers’ bracket final. In the semifinals Yukadon was able to steal a set from Infiltration. He plays a more offensive style than Infiltration who prefers to smother opponents. The only problem for Yukadon was that Infiltration got out early so it was difficult to hold him back. In the loser bracket finals the two had an even game in Nash vs. Nash and Infiltration won 3-1.

Yukadon is the rookie on the rise. He isn’t as well known in the gaming circuit but he placed third at Evolution and beat Joe “L.I.” Ciaramelli and Goichi “”GO1” Kishida to get there.

The top three team prizes at Evolution 2016 went to the United States, Japan and South Korea. There are five points awarded for gold, three points for silver and one point for bronze. The U.S. totaled 28 points thanks to play of Juan “Hungrybox” Debiedma and Christopher “NYChrisG” Gonzalez who won Super Smash Bros. Melee and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 respectively. Japan finished with 24 points and South Korea finished with 14 points.

The next big gaming tournament is Defend the North 2016 July 29 – 31 in White Plains, New York.
