The 2015 RBS 6 Nations Rugby Tournament Begins In Early February – Complete Details

The 2015 RBS 6 Nations rugby tournament begins in early February, an annual tournament between England, France, Italy, Wales, Scotland and Ireland. It is sponsored by the Royal Bank of Scotland and is one of the bigger rugby tournaments beside the World Cup — which like soccer takes place every four years, with the next one happening in the second half of 2015.

Now, the 6 Nations — originally called the Home Nations — first started in 1883, when the pool only contained England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales: France eventually joined in 1910 and Italy in 2000. At the moment, England and Wales are tied for the most overall 6 Nations wins with 26: Italy has the least with zero wins after fifteen years of competing.

As for the location of the matches, each country hosts at least two home games: with the six venues being Twickenham Stadium (England), Stade de France (France), Millennium Stadium (Wales), Stadio Olimpico (Italy), Murrayfield Stadium (Scotland) and Aviva Stadium (Ireland).

Now the tournament officially begins on February 6 with the highly contested match-up between England and Wales at Millennium Stadium — the tournament runs until March 21 with England and France closing it out in Great Britain.

As of right now, the gambling halls have England as the favorite, but this is at best a hazy prediction. Ireland, who is ranked third on the World Rugby Rankings — only behind New Zealand and South Africa — is the defending 6 Nations champion and the biggest threat to England: personally, I cannot wait for the March 1 match-up.

On top of this, Wales (sixth), France (seventh) and Scotland (eighth) are not pushovers either — sorry Italy you are rarely ever noted when in talks about possible tournament winners — which is why the 6 Nations is one of the most exciting tourneys every year. Where else do you have five of the ten best rugby teams in the world duking it out: making this a must watch for all people trying to get into rugby before 2015’s World Cup in England.

Now, if you want tune into the matches, beIN Sports will be airing it in the USA: the station is offered by most cable providers. And finally, make sure when looking up the schedule to adjust for the time difference.
